How long do they run?

I do alot of commuting and want to buy a used 2004 or 2005 mcs with about
25,000 miles. Is it realistic to drive a used mcs for about 4-5 yrs and put 80,000 miles on it? I guess the real question is: how long do these beauties run and does anyone out there have an old mcs with over 100,000 and how is it doing?

There is a good handful or so of MINI owners rolling well over 100k.

MINIs if taken care of will run for thousands and thousands of fun miles.

No problems yet, going to turn 123,000 on the way to work this morning. This car has been one of the most problem/ trouble free vehicles I've owned. I've been running the 15% pulley for almost 100k now.

I don't think we know how long they run yet....

Glad to hear you have no problems. I bought a 2003 with 29k miles on it and hope to get as good as service as you have. What service interval have you been following? I.E at how many miles did you have necessary maintanance?

Thanks,
K

If I thought I would only get about 100K or so out of my MINI, I would have never bought it.

agreed; as with everything the individuals with no problems don't tend to seek out people and talk about it, because they expect no problems.

Yes, but only if you drive 16-20K miles a year.

OHHHH, in that case, you'll do 100K easy. Just do the regular maintenance (amazingly little these days - you don't even have to change the plugs for 100K!)

For a different way of looking at it, I read an article estimating an automobile's engine life to be around 6,000 hours.

Well now its official, I'm over 123K. Ive been following the recomended service interval from the OBC (on board computer). Oil changes somwhere between 15 and 22k miles. (I haven't done that many), all of other maintenance done as recomended. Other maintenance is the usual, clean air (aftermarket) filter ~every 5k, and rotate the tires at the same time.

Most of the cost has been in general maintenance, or aftermarket parts. I have done the rear brakes once, and now the front are due, tires, oil etc.

Warrenty work included, new header (coolant tank)(since replaced with a forge one because the replacement OEM one leaked too), boot latch mechanism, and two recalls, one emissions, and one rear suspension bolt.

So at 60mph, that should be 360,000 miles, is that right? (Math isn't my best morning subject.... ). If so then I'm not even half way thru
