Best accessories

Hey all,

I'm getting close to my first service and I just realized I haven't bought 1 accessory for the Mini! What are the best accessories to get? I was hoping there'd be a sharkfin antenna around somewhere, but it seems like I can only get a stubby.

So far, I plan to get
1) Glove box caddy
2) Stubby antenna

What else?

Ditto on the above mentioned.
Are you going with the Alta stub antenna?

I highly recommend this

It is a great car and the fact that you have not felt compelled to add stuff proves it.

The replacement cup holder from MINI Fini.

It attaches to the down tube on your center console and is far lower than the "goalie mask" original - right next to your shifting hand. After installing it, you carefully remove the original (turn it to the right, pull downward to remove lower pin, then up to remove upper pin - no need to remove the bracket, so you can reinstall easily if you need two cupholders) and your dash will never have been better looking....

Only issue is that the cupholder is around $35 but at least it is well built - probably better than the OEM.

Bill

ps - my other choice would have been the parcel shelf but they recently discontinued this item (I believe because of crash safety - protecting your knees is our highest priority). You may still be able to find one in inventory somewhere for a huge price - but don't get your hopes up. The panic buying was fierce a few weeks back.

I don't know if you have them already but I suggest:
1. Rubber Mats (Including Boot)
2. Glove Box Organizer
3. Magnetic Stone Guards

A useful accessory...

One useful accessory I don't see mentioned a lot is the OutMotoring console pouch...

http://outmotoring.com/mini_cooper_console_pouch.html

This is really like a "saddlebag" that provides a misleading amount of storage. My interior is black, so this just blends in to the point you don't even realize it's there.

So if you find yourself short on storage, this is probably the best $20 you can spend (outside of the $$ for the glove box organizer you already mentioned...)

Enjoy!

The cool relaxed fit cotton mini hats in the color of your car.

I'd get the arm rest, but at >$200 it's waaaaaaaaaaay over priced. I can get a 24" panasonic color tv for that price. Sheesh!!!!

I was hoping there were other options. They only offer the antenna mast in black, which may look pretty bad next to Astro Black. It'd look like mismatched paint.

I recommend the MINI saddlebag, which attaches to the underside of the rear parcel shelf. It has several velcro lock, soft compartments that hold a lot of stuff while taking up generally unused space. Outmoroting has it. One caution, however: While it says it fits the R56, there is an issue. Technically, it does fit. However, the R56 parcel shelf does not have the screw blocks shown in the saddlebag instructions. I stapled a couple of wood strips to the location where the instructions alleged screw anchors were and then screwed the mounting screws into them.

I personally think the magnetic stone guards are a necessity, and they make the car look really cool

Where do you find those? I had to settle for a tan and orange one from BMW.
