Has Anyone Painted Their Cooper?

Just want to know if anyone out there has painted their Mini Cooper a different color? And if so how much did it cost.
Thanks
John

I would think it would be tacky to have one color on the outside and another in the engine bay. Unless of course you were willing to remove the engine and other parts to get a match.

I was thinking of a CF hood and trunk that would need to be painted. They would of course be missing paing where the stripes should be.

I guess if you look at it that way. Mine will just be a Cooper also but I was hoping to keep the engine bay prestine.

Now that I have thought about it, it could be cool to have a different color engine bay. If you had a silver car and painted it black or vice versa it might not look bad.

I went from LY/W to BRG/B. Yeah, the engine bay is still yellow, but it's a daily driver not a show car by any means. Maaco was having a half price sale on their 2nd best package, so I got that instead of forking over $2500 for a better clear coat. Warranty is for 5 yrs and they did the door jambs. Total was just about $1k. I'm pretty satisfied other than the poor decal placement I complained about in another thread. You might find a better paint job for about the same in a different city. Paint and body work is a HUGE business in Vegas b/c 90% of the population can't drive for crap.

Sorry no pics yet. Leaving for NJ and NY for a week tomorrow.

The Future Queen of Nebraska (Tori) painted her JCW a bright pink. Nice flake content.

Engine bay is also pink. Very professional job.

I'm not sure if you want to know how much tori's paintjob costs... I was some what stunned when i heard the ballpark figure.

It is however, an amazing paintjob and it fits her very well.

Stoopid Girl's COOPER is pink as well (British Racing Pink)
(dont forget her- she was the first one on NAM!)

We both have black engine bays- and I dont think they look too bad.... You dont really notice them, as they add so little black. (that and we have SO much flake )

The shop that did our paint jobs (they were both done in Arizona) estimated to do *my* paint AND interior would be around $15-20,000. Its a lot... but I love my paint... they did a great job (only a few things I dont like... and they are minimal.) and there is NO orange peel... The clear is like a mirror.

Thats what we say in our house... For my addiction to Tiffany's jewelry + what I spent on paint (and travel to get the paint done...) I could have had my dream SR/SR Cooper hahaha

If you look around and find someone local, they might be able to do a lower price for you (especially if you dont do the interior.)

We also used PPG paint (which is something like $300/qt) and the paints are 4 stage. If you choose something less insane, it will also be cheaper

Good luck.... and happy motoring!
(and I like the green- we are currently debating whether or 07 will be BRG or PW )
