My actual MC mileage

If anyone is interested in documented Cooper mileage, here's mine since the time I bought it new. The downward spikes are track days. The overall average, including everything, is 29.9 mpg.

Nice job, and good info. Did you figure out what the upward spikes were?

The upward spikes were long trips. One was a trip to Memphis and back where I averaged about 36, running 75-80, w/ac.

very cool... some pretty good MPGs on highway and 29.9 overall is not too shabby.

i'm a total Mini newbie... still waiting for delivery of my first... so just curious... are you able to pull this data from the OBC?

MIne is a constant 30MPG, on a stock(performance wise) MC. All around town driving, never gone on a highway trip. Barely use AC, but I love to floor the MINI in 1st gear after about 3k rpm's. Thats such a rush, never guess its 115hp.

I keep track of my MPG but I've never thought to graph it. Until 1 1/2 months ago I averaged about 31ish mpg, but I have some major problems right now and I'm down to 26ish mpg :-( I'm thinking that my o2 sensor is messed up and found out that it could cost me over $200 just for 1 sensor :-(

I'm not sure you could do that. I just reset the trip odometer every time I fill it up, and write the mileage driven on the receipt. Then I enter it into a spreadsheet, and use the Excel graph doodad to graph it.

I installed MTH about 2 months ago, so I'm trying to see if there is any change in mileage. Maybe? It's hard to tell. I plan on driving real easy for a month this winter, just to see what'll happen.

Last year there was a 'contest' here on NAM to see who could get the best mileage for 1 week. I was shifting at 3k and driving like I had an egg under my right foot. It was torture.

The mileage contest thread: (I managed 33.24)

I don't know, monitoring fuel consumption is very important - definitely.
But I can't help but feel that studying it, actually working to get those extra few MPGs (in a MINI),
is somehow . . . cheating. Like keeping it in the garage so as not to get it dirty, or a big 4x4 that never goes off road.

Just another point of view.

That said - I do monitor it - 34.5 over 70 mi of interstate this morning.
My contest entry will have to wait a while.

If you take it as a challenge I think it could be fun babying the gas pedal in a MINI. If you just flat out don't care and have to go fast all the time then monitory fuel economy just does not matter even if the challenge is presented.
