My mini sometimes make some popping sound when I shift from 1 > 2 >3,
but after 3, I can't hear it. Usually it happens in the first few minutes of
my driving, I guess once the engine is warm enough, the sound goes away.
I read some posts about this sound before and it is considered to be normal.
But I can't find those post again, does anyone know anything about this
sound?

What kind of Mini is it? An MCS will make a burble out of the exhaust when you let off the gas to shift. That's normal.

 

Do you hear this sound on the UPSHIFT or the DOWNSHIFT ?

The burble tends to be most prominent wth you take backpressure off the engine in the downshift. When the engine is under strain in a strong upshift, I never hear the burble (but maybe it is being masked by my supercharger screaming....)

Mine is MCS, I only hear it when upshifting.
I dont hear it when downshifting.

 

yea i have the poping soud also its normal it just soud of engine waming up in the beginign... it usally happens in the morning when i first start the car....

but doesn' happen after engine warms up

 

first off do you have an aftermarket exhaust... and also what year is your mini?...

im pretty sure, if the exhaust burbles its should do it like 2 or 3 times in a row at least.. so is that what is happening or are you hearing just one pop?

also i have a milltekaftermarket exhaust on my mini and i dont think it does that on upshift at all, just if i release the gas quickly or down shift...

 

Mine is 06 mcs, does not have any mod on it.
Yes, the popping sound is 2 to 3 times in a row.

 

If it's popping on the rev-down between shifts, it's normal and was actually engineered in there for the sportiness... or so my SA tells me! I liked it and knew what it was, he pro-actively asked if mine pops on downshifting or rev-down.

 

What a great sound it is as well when you lift your foot off ... even better with the JCW exhaust .......Its nothing to worry about 3388, mini changed the exhaust a couple of years ago to do this , as people were saying the previous models were too quiet .

 

I heard the popping sound on rev-up, so does it still ok??

 

My wife has an 05 MCS. She hates the pop. Anybody know if there is a relatively cheap way to get rid of it?
