Just got the Texas Speedwerks "Sport" suspension installed!

...and all I can say is WOW - this is how a MINI is supposed to feel!

This is their "mildest" full suspension upgrade. They have two other levels - one is for really serious track / autocross cars and the other for less serious track /autocross folks who also drive on the street. Mine is targeted towards someone who wants better handling and ride than the SS+ suspension on the MCS but who doesn't take the car out on the track very often. And it is fantastic.

The suspension consists of Leda coilovers (non adjustable) with Hypercoil rear springs and Leda's special front springs. I don't know the spring rates or much in the way of specs on the units, but again, WOW!

The car feels much more firmly planted. No wheel hop on washboarded / crappy roads, smoother by far over expansion joints and such. And very neutral around corners - no understeer, much less body roll than the SS+ suspension it replaced.

The guys at TSW did the install for me, including the corner balancing and ride height adjustment. The ride can be lowered up to 1 3/4" all around. I went for a 1" lower height and the car looks really sharp. Didn't think I'd lower it at all, but when they set it at that height I liked the look and the ride doesn't suffer at all.

I've had only a couple of chances to challenge the suspension but it has impressed me constantly.

I'll post more including a photo of the lowered car when I get a chance.

Gary's 'Sport' suspension is the first - a test case if you will. I'm sure they'll set a firm price on it as soon as they (and Gary) are completely happy with it - after its been driven for more than a couple of days. These guys are definitely doing their homework on selecting the valving and spring rates to make a nicely balanced system for the three different applications!

I'm already saving my pennies for their "softcore" system for an AX/DE car that is also a daily driver. I'll get a chance to check it out on Scobib's MC monster later this month at our next AX

Their website lists the sport suspension at $1795! Is this the same suspension discussed here?

Any vibration as yet?
Coilovers seem to be a great choice but many have said that they have experienced the dreaded "lowering vibrations" that just the lowering spring changers have.
How many miles on your car when you did this mod?

Paul
