Honestly, I don't know why I paid $850 extra for the sunroof. It looks really sweet. but how often do I use it? Rarely! Does anyone else feel this way?

Jeeze, I use it all the time - any time the windows are open, the SR is too. I love it! Keeps my hair more blonde too. :-)

Just added a deflector from weather-tech, makes it much quieter.

I use it all summer long and also on any warm days during the spring/fall. I mean come on.....it's just the push of a button to open and close it. Seems to me that may be your hang up. *shrug* It's not that much work...really.

I drive with my sunroof open and windows down every day! Won't for long though....it's starting to get cold.

My sunroof is only closed when it's raining. I leave it "popped" all day and in the garage at night.

While I'm at work on hot days I leave mine popped up all day so that it is not an oven when I get back to it. I also use mine all the time...next best thing to a cabrio. Well as the old saying goes different strokes for different folks. There are plenty who use it all the time and others who'll believe it was a waste. I just happen to love mine.

I use mine anytime it isn't raining. If it's chilly in the morning, it is cracked open, otherwise it is wide open and the radio is cranked up. Leaving it cracked open on hot days while parked outside makes quite a bit of difference in the cabin temperature when I first get in the car at the end of the day. I have been meaning to look into the wind deflectors to lower the wind noise, though.

If I get an 07 I'll skip the sunroof. Too much noise and I don't like the looks of the add-on wind deflectors. Also, it's a likely source of expensive problems if you keep your MINI for a long time.

The only other car I've had with a sunroof now has a permanently closed one because it broke and I haven't wanted to spend the money to get it fixed.

My sunroof is always open. Even on a chilly 40 degree morning, the sunroof is open and the seat heaters are on. I love the fresh air.

I tilt it often, even in the winter. This helps move fresh air through the car, and keeps me awake on long trips. I have it completely open less often, although I like lots of light in the cabin even when it is closed.

Now that I think about it, I hardly use mine. Its tinted with 5% to keep the sun out and weighs a ton.

Why did I get it? I hardly use it.

I love having light from above, even if I never open it. It is loud for sure, but it's nice to not have it so dark inside...I did the full anthracite interior.

Now that I know better, I would have omitted the sunroof. I finally got around to covering it with white vinyl a couple months back, so it almost looks like a clean unaltered roof.

I barely use the sunroof but know if I had a Cabrio I'd have the top down as much as possible.

Always at least popped open for air, and most of the time first thing after I start the car if it's not raining. Gettin' a little chilly here too, and won't be opening because the snow will get in

Best add-on EVER! I use it simply every single day........well, unless it's raining...but sometimes even when it's cold.

I like it - however I wish it didn't open so soon with the Convenience Opening option. My wife's Jetta had that and the sunroof didn't start opening until a moment after the windows made it all the way down. *shrug*

I agree, mine is almost always popped open. I don't open it the whole way very often, it's noisy. My truck sunroof is nearly silent when openned, not sure why the Mini becomes so noisy.
In the winter, I leave the heater on my feet and the sunroof popped open, perfect conditions in the car for me
My sunroof is tinted, though - I think that helps.

i ordered mine with out the sun roof because on my VW i used it occasionally but i had the drain holes clog twice and had rain water over flow into the A piller and behind the passenger seat. I have read about this happening to minis also. in the long run the water was easily cleaned up and the holes/tubing cleared of debris, but i would prefer not to ever have to deal with it again.

Also i skipped the sun roof to save 50 pounds of weight at the highest point on the car...it sounds goofy but it matters to me

+1 I enjoy it (if not open it) every time I get in the car. Looking at blue sky or stars - priceless.
