Removing the Navi DVD

How do you remove the Navigation DVD? I think that my module is broken because the power light on it does not go on. Is there a way to remove the DVD without power? The only reason I want to take it out is to simply see if the DVD is actualy there or not.

The only way I have heard of manually ejecting the DVD is to dismantle the drive.

They will NOT give you the new 2006-2 Navteq DVD (heck, they don't even give that to buyers of 2006 models!:impatient), but they should get the system working again for you. I wouldn't TOUCH the Nav unit while you're still under warranty. You take it apart, you get to buy a new one.

Thats exactly what I'm going to do. I'll take it in and hopefuly they won't have any old Navteq DVD's so I'll get a new 2006 version. Too bad I can't take it in till the end of next week.

Just to set expectations - if the system is dead, it's not BECAUSE of the DVD. If you don't have the DVD in there, they'll make you buy one - it's not part of the warranty (nor would any missing part be.)

Im aware of the fact that the system failure is not due to the DVD itself. However, if they cannot remove the DVD itself then they have to replace it with another DVD disk. Hopefully it will be the 2006 version.

I always appreciate an optimist.
Let us know the final outcome!
