New H-Sport Adj Camber Plates

Is anyone using and have comments on the new, completely redesigned, adjustable camber plates from H-Sport. The new H-Sport camber plates look very similar to the RDR/Helix plates but H-Sport says the the H-Sport plates do not increase the ride height. I believe the RDR/Helix plates rise the ride height about 5mm.

After doing a lot NAM research on camber plates, the new H-Sport plates look like one of the best options when using shorter springs (I have H&R) instead of adjustable coil-overs. I really like the RDR design but did not want to increase ride height in the front so it looks like the new H-Sports might work great. However, I am a little concerned with going with H-Sports due to the past problems with the old design.

I have heard a lot about the new plates that are suppose to be coming out but have only seen them once. Here is a shot of them on the Pearl MINI from M7:

Are they officially out yet? Last time I check with H-sport I got back an email to "check back in 90 days" and they are not listed on the site yet:

http://www.h-sport.com/cgi-bin/EDCst...,%20Cooper%20S

If you have any additional photos, info, links, I would love to see them.

Thanks

I saw the new H-Sport camber plates at their booth during the Monterey Historic Races at Laguna Seca. Today, I verified with H-Sport that the new camber plates are available at a retail price of $547.50. For stock/shorter spring diameter the part number is 30830. The H-Sport website has not been updated with the new camber plates. H-Sport said that the new plates are available through H-Sport or distributors.

The new H-sports are ripoffs of Helix plates. I had 2 pair of the old H-Sports rust out on me. If I were you I'd get the Helix plates (proven) and skip the ripoff variety.

I agree that the new H-Sport Camber Plates appear to be a copy of the RDR Plates but the H-Sport Rep told me that the H-Sports have improved the basic design because the H-Sports do not increase the ride height (which is important to me). I have been very happy with other Hotchkis products that I have installed on my Mini and other vehicles. However, I am concerned about the reliability of the new H-Sports Camber Plates, that is why I want to hear from people who have installed the new H-Sports. H-Sport says they redesigned their plates to eliminate the previous design problems but I would like some proof before spending $500+.

I would give Peter at M7 a shout since they have been running them since this spring on the Pearl M7 MINI:

Morning Gents.....

Thank you SumWon, we do indeed sell the H-sport line of products and is a great line of performance handling parts for the MINI.

Except the old camberplates which were crappy at best, rust was a problem, binding was a problem and the need for adding extra holes in the sheet metal was a pain in the A**

The new plates has now been on the pearl white M7 Cosworth MINI since May, with no issues what so ever, and the few of you who
has seen the quality and workmanship of the plates will agree that this is
first rate product.

As mentioned these camber plates will not raise ride height, which is very
important on some short stroke high performance coil-overs.

No more risk of binding as H-Sport implemented a Mono Ball system.

The plates will come pre-ordered for Stock coils/ 2 1/4 or 2 1/2 making it
super easy to uppgrade later if you go from stock to coil-overs.

Availabillity: Now

Price: $489.00

please give us a call if you have any further questions.

Here's some more info for you.....

camber range

Stock springs: -2.0 degrees

Race Springs: -3.8 degrees

Material used in Plate is a mix of Stainless steel closest to the
spring and a hard plate silver zink plating in areas less prone to
wear and corrosion.

The Mono-Ball is fully serviceable "Aurora Bearing" giving the part a
long service life.

Is M7 or another vendor interested in providing a group buy discount on the new H-Sport Adj Camber Plates? My guess is that 10 to 20 people would be interested in the new H-Sport camber plates.

Peter,
Have you had a chance to crunch some numbers for a group buy? Perhaps include a combo price if people want to buy some SRP's with the camber plates (or are they even necessary with the additional reinforcement that the camber plates provide)?

Hi Guys....

OK this is the deal 10 or more plates and I can sell them for $470.00
free shipping and $99.00 more if you include the SRP's.
Are the SRP's necessary if you use the Camberplates....No, but it certainly
wouldn't hurt.

If interested in these items please email me contact info at:

peter@m7tuning.com

Please do not PM contact info as it's easier for my staff to print out the
info from my email. With that said if you might have questions regarding
the group buy, feel free to PM or call me at. 562-608-8123

Question from a camber-plate newbie... are these for the front only? Or do they include rear ones too? I ask as that I'm planning to get some H-Sport springs soon, and was told that I would need camber plates (for the rear I think, as I seem to remember that later MINIs have adjustable camber in the front...?) in order to avoid having a relatively large negative camber in the back... i.e. if these H-Sport camber plates will allow me to keep my camber post-lowering about where it was before, I'm interested...

These are for the front only. You will need to replace the rear control arm to adjust camber in the rear.

What exactly do these camber plates do? I've already experienced cracked struts and had to shell out 500$ for two new upper strut mounts. I'm trying to look for a cure. Is camber plates the way to go? I'm also interested in the M7 SRP but my driver side tower has experienced a very little mushrooming. Any advice?

Just a note, if you have an 05-06 you will be able to adjust rear camber
without resorting to adjustable rear control arms.....
