I visited the dealer today......

So, i got to MINI of Manhattan at 10 till 9 this morning and had my MCS checked out for the damage to the hood scoop and all, i picked it up about half an hour ago and the hood scoop is as good as new, cause it is

I got the badge to my front driver side wheel for three bucks cause somebody stole it (no idea why) and that was easy to do

The corrosion or atleast what i thought was corrosion was actually wax build up from the place thats been detailing my car, so i guess im doin it form now on, i even bought a bunch of wash and wax stuff from armor all and mother.

The only problem i had with todays visit is that i didnt get my steering wheel badge fixed, the reason, its not under warranty, the reason, owners fault, and the reason i didnt get it replaced was because it was an estimated $450 bucks for the part and labor! and this absolutely and totally sucks so this might be one of the things i ask my parents for, lol

Anyway im cheering myself up cause this weekend im changing the taillights to make myself happy

How is it the owners fault if the glue for the badge stops sticking? Same it happening to mine and I plan on mentioning it at my next service. Seems there are people who got it replaced under warranty.

We had the air bag unit in my wife's '05 replaced under warranty as the right tip of the emblem came loose and had started to bend up. Quite a few folks have had issues with the emblem. I can't understand how hitting the horn can cause an emblem to bend - I have never seen this issue in any other vehicle. Guess I should consider myself lucky as it is the only issue we have had (unfortunately the right hand corner of the emblem is coming loose again!).

When i took delivery, my MA actually warned me about the badge coming off. He said people bring their cars in every once in awhile asking for a replacement.... usually do to nailing the horn! He said push around the edge of the center part of the wheel when i want to honk, not directly in the middle

Interesting....sounds like not much attention was paid to that in the design process.

Wonder what little issues the 07's and beyond will bring us....

Well i dunno about that, it might have gotten stolen cause ironically on the same night somebody broke into my fathers car right behind my MINI i actually also noticed that the protective film thats purple, for the wheel badge, is still on the other three badge
Also i dont think its worth the hassle, its only three dollars and nine cents with NY state tax

huh... mine has the horn buttons on the large spokes.

can you remove the cover and fix it yourself? (make sure to unplug the
battery before you work on it).

Because the badge lifted?

We got used to the buttons on the 03 and actually found them convenient. We will have to avoid the badge push, or better yet, try not to use it at all!

regards,
Red

Yes, when a corner of the badge lifts, you will continually catch articles of clothing on it while getting in and out of the car.
