JL Audio Stealthbox/amp how-to

I searched the forums and couldn't really find anything on how to install a sub and amp. I'd like to install a Stealthbox and a JL audio amp to power it. What's the best way to get power and how does one wire it up?

Well its most like any other sub/amp combo. Battery is right there for power. You have to run it up front if just a mc. You can ground anywhere. For inputs the easiest thing to do is tap your rear speaker inputs. It sounds like a pain but once you get over the fear of ripping out the rear side panels and seats, and just do it, its easy. The remote wire runs up to the fuse box. I bet I could put a sub/amp combo in a mini in under an hour now. First time it took me a few. Nothing out of the ordinary, just a different car.

hope it helps

It is a MCS. I figured getting the power from the battery right there would be pretty simple.

Which wire would be tapped into from the rear speaker for signal? Is it possible to tap into the cd changer wiring in the rear?

Do you have HK in your car?
If you do... this link will help
http://claire.shankrabbit.com/

If your car is non H/k you could pull one of the 6X9 speakers from the rear pannel and tap into the wires there for your Line out converter.

If you're looking for a source of "remote" power to turn the amp on ANYTIME the car is on, you could tap into the 12v socket in the boot. I think the middle wire on the 12v socket is switched on and off with the key.
I don't know about the non HK cars.... but with the HK you can turn the radio on without the keys..... if this is the case with your car, you wouldn't be able to turn on the amp/sub without the key.

Good luck

It's a non HK. Since it seems like I will have to remove body panels I think I might turn this into a longer project and do some sound deadening too.

Thanks for all the help so far. Keep it coming.
