Chrono Pack in '07

Hey:

I haven't seen any reference to the Chrono Pack, or the Speedo and Tach on the steering column. Is this option now a goner for 2007?

Before I say anything:
  1. I don't know what I'm talking about.
  2. I'm just guessing
Now that that's out of the way, I'd be the chrono pack is gone, because with the radio in the speedo cluster, the chrono pack wouldn't look right with the radio controls on the bottom. But, I'd bet cash money there's going to be a navigation system option and that'll move the speedo to the steering column, but the radio controls will remain.

Again, just guessin'

Proof I don't know what I'm talking about

Go to http://www.newmini2006.co.uk/

You can see that the NAV system has the speedo around the nav system.

But I like it!

Sorry to keep posting, but if you get the Nav system, the radio drops out of the speedo to the stack, which looks MUCH better.

So, I'm getting a nav system, I think.

Dang. I'm getting all itchy. Gotta call the dealer and see if they're doing a waiting list yet.

I see the non-sat nav option when I click on the little square blinkie deal but don't see how to pull up the pic of the sat nav system.

Well this certainly will affect my decision negatively in 09 or 10 when it is time to buy. As a tall driver the single tach is cut off by the steering wheel. Both Tach and Speedo work just fine.

Appears so. Thank the lord. A MINI is not a MINI without a massive speedo.

A matter of opinion... One thing that makes it a MINI is the ability to customize it to your personal taste. My personal taste is to have a tachometer and a speedometer in front of me where I feel that it belongs and a proper set of gauges. The new, larger speedometer on the '07 doesn't even have a temperature gauge.

Ok, fair game... It's still 3/4 of a MINI without the large speedometer

Reviving this thread to see if there's any additional news on the column mounted speedo. No sign of it in the US configurator.

Possibly an option for 08/09 .

The chrono pack is alive and well if you really want it (along with the Mickey Mouse ears colum mounted speedo/tach combo)!!!

...you just have to buy the 2007 MC or MSC CONVERTIBLE (really, check the spec sheets )!

I've heard that even if you get the NAV the speedo is still in the middle

If you have the NAV the speedo is still central and indicates speed round the outside (the main reason the speedo is so big). The audio controls are via the NAV screen if NAV is fitted and via a display across the bottom of the speedo if not. Mine ahsa radio boost and I believe this has an extra line in the display over the radio wave. The audio in the R56 (Boost) is not great so if you like your music spec the audio upgrade.

The rev counter is on the steerig column and contains the display for the on board computer (if fitted). This has varoius modes including temp display, speed display and fuel consumption.

I haven't seen a chrono pack on an R56 and this is not available in the UK according to my dealer.

The 2007 MCc and MCSc are still the same model till at least the end of the year 2008), only the hard tops are changing body styles.

As reported and shown in pics here and elsewhere (White Roof Radio, MotoringFile, MINI2)... speedo stays in the center for the newly designed hard tops.

In the convertible the chrono pack or NAV options will moves the speedo to the stearing column just like previous years.

This is unfortunate. I love the chrono pack on my '05, and it would have affected my decision if it wasn't available. It will definitely affect my decision to get a new one. Unlike many people on NAM, I like almost everything about the new Minis...........the exception is the radio setup and lack of the chrono pack.

I wonder how hard it will be to fit the new car with an oil temp guage? What about a turbo boost guage?
