I've read all the threads and I still can't figure out which CAI is legal in STX. Can somebody sum it up please?

If the new intake requires you to remove any part of the back wall, not part of the original intake BOX, it is not legal. The stock box has a flexible, bellows type connection to the wall in question. The conection can be removed the wall can't be modified nor can the sound deadening hood liner. If you have a JCW kit you MUST use the JCW rear wall.

Most intakes can be installed without the back wall mod, even if they recommend the mod. Any intake that has a filter that extends beyond the wall could not be installed without the mod. The Helix/RDR has such a long filter and I believe there is another on the market as well but can't remember which it is. The Alta, once thought to be illegal, is in fact legal, if the rear wall is left unmodified.

 

Thanks for the info! So, I guess the next question is, what's the collective wisdom on the "best" intake that's STX-legal? Are the HAI solutions a good way to go?

Actually, I'm really just interested in more supercharger whine more than anything else. But, I figure while I'm at it, I might as well go with the best solution for running legally in STX.
