Is your MINI still fun to drive?
I have been without my Mini for 1 day short of a month (62 project) and I am really missing it..... (about another week or so) I have fun everytime I turn the key..... so how about the rest of you.....how much fun do you have motoring and how much driving do you do JUST FOR PLEASURE?
I go out several times a week just for fun. Last night I was just driving around in DC for a while. Because I have an MC it lacks some of the acceleration I'd like, but its still really fun to drive! Its great to go out, have fun driving, and explore new places, definitely better than sitting in front of the TV or computer...
I have an absurd emotional attachement to my MCS. My Audi sits in the driveway so long that I fear the battery is going to go dead.. so every few weeks I begrudingly park the MINI and drive the Audi. When I'm not driving the MINI, I actually miss him. I go out to the garage just to say hi to him. (mmkay.. I'm crazy..

Is it fun? Oh, yes!!!! It's the dirty little secret of my existence as very few of my immediate friends have actually ever driven a MINI. They know I love car....but little do they know exactly why.

I will go the long way to a destination, especially if it includes any twisties. Yes, after 16 months, I/we still love our Mini. We bought it for my hubby as a second vehicle (his other ride is a '97 F150 work truck), but he hardly ever gets to drive the mini because I have to be at work before him, so I take the mini while he is still asleep
. This past weekend I had to drive my other vechicle, and the battery was dead from sitting, so I have had to drive it a lot this week to charge it up

I recently picked up an 06 KIA Rio for a commuter to save putting "commuter miles" (about 100 a day) on my Mini. Now I get to drive my Mini for fun once a week. I miss it (it's a freak'n car
), and look forward to driving it on my days off. This car is definitely a keeper

Let me preface this by saying that there is no animal neglect in the following statement:
When I get back from a vacation (that requires air travel), I miss my MINI more than my cat (yes I have a cat sitter . . .he is not left alone withoug human contact).
Oh, and Imavunderbrah's statement except substitute Volvo for Audi, and I drive the Volvo to work every Friday.

I think I can identify with everyone. My wife and I have a 05 BMW X3 and 02 Mercedes B C240, but since we bought the Mini 3 weeks ago we both love it. We work about 30 miles from home and about 6 blocks apart. So she drops me off at work and keeps my baby all day at work and picks me up. I must admit when she picks me up after work I make her change seats just so I can drive and possibly sit in rush hour traffic here in Baltimore as we commute home to Harford county. I am soo upset we didnt think of the Mini years ago before we purchased the two extremely overpriced vehicles we have now that we dont even use anymore. Oh well you live and learn. I am a Mini man for life. MINI KICKS BOOTAY!!!
i'm really bad. Had an '03 IB MCS and stupidly traded it when the new Mustang GT came out. I missed it so much I sold the Mustang and bought an '06 PW MCS and I'm very happy again. My poor BMW feels neglected and as many of you I get her out every once in a while to keep the battery from dying. I love driving the MINI and hope to never be without again.
Very Cool
Looks like this thread is gaining steam.......keep it coming...it is nice to just post about the shere joy of driving these cars and not think about HP vs WHP etc.... these cars are a ball.........
Nightmares...
A little over 2 months ago I took my Mini for some mods at a local shop. The owner, we'll call him Billy Bob (no ofense to anyone)
, told me it would take about 2-3 weeks to complete the work. Within the first week I was having "driving" withdrawls, then the nighmares kicked in. I kept having this reoccuring nightmare that eveyone at the shop was driving my Mini but not I. A month went by and nothing, I was so desparate by this time that I was driving by the shop incognito just to make sure no one else was driving my Mini
. Finally, about a month and a half later I get the long awaited call from Billy Bob that the car should be ready the next day. I made all the necessary preparations, garage cleaned and swept, all unnecessary items into storage, I cancelled all appointments for that day...my baby was comming HOME!!!
The day came and went with no phone call. It was, without a doubt, the worst day I've had in a while. Billy Bob called me to tell me he had gotten behind and was going to take a few more days. Every day, every hour, every minute was like being in a torture chamber with that dripping water in the background wanting everything to stop. I even came to the point of questioning myself whether I really had ever owned a Mini or it had always been in my mind. Finally the phone call came and he said "Do you want to pick up your MINI", what kind of a stupid a*s question is that?:impatient That day I must of put on at least 350 mile. I know there is a moral to this story somewhere but one thing is for sure, I LOVE DRIVING MY MINI!!!

too funny..i'm in the same boat. My poor Audi (i love it mind you) just sits there now. I keep meaning to drive it more and keep the miles off the MINI, but it just doesn't happen that often. In fact, i've actually had to charge the battery on the Audi already.

You're not crazy... MINI does have a soul.
It is just like a human being, except it runs on gas instead of food... Just like us, it need some sleep.
