Hassel Mini Service on Long Island

Ummm...where can i lodge a real seriouse complaint about these guys. I took my car there 3 times to fix my airbag sensor light that comes on, both exhaust hangers, my driver door that wont open from the inside and a smell of antifreeze which they changed the bottle...changed the fan...changed all the hoses...and my radiator as well as balance a wheel "on the third visit they claimed vibration was the culprit" the seem to lack real knowledge and just do guess work....then they had the nerve to hold my car ransom till i paid for the charge to balance the wheel....low and behold i am facing these problems once again..my stock exhaust is now rattling and hanging...my driver door does not open less i shoulder tackle it, the airbak light is blinding me....and i am smelling antifreeze once again. Anyone have the details for that other Mini Service station in Hunting....where can i go.

Have them try balancing the other 3 tires

Don't know man if my MINI was that messed up and the dealer was giving me the old BOHICA I would build a nice web site in their honor.

Yeah i called them up, they are about 45 mins from me i am going to see if i can get a Sunday appointment. The lady told me 97% of Hassel customers ends up with them and they all have horror stories like mine.

I don't think they have SUnday service hours. I have been using them since 2003

I too have been less than delighted with Hassel Mini. Rumor has it that since the family that previously owned it sold to a large corporation, they have not been the same. Service managers have left and taken their best mechanics with them. I had a grease monkey work on my Cooper S. The window regulators needed replacing, now my speaker grilles have to be hit on a regular basis to keep them from falling off (I will probably buy a set so I do not have to deal with the Hassel). I had to take cleaner to remove said grease. The door panel now has a small nick in the lower edge. The car was due for a state inspection and shortly after I left the Service area I was told one of my rear tail lights was out. So I left a message with Hassel, no reply ever. I received the call from Mini regarding my experience with Hassel and I left all 2's. Guess I was too generous as they never made a follow on my report. I too will try Habberstad MINI the next time I need warranty or any dealer required maintenance,

My warranty ends next month so this will be my last trip to a mini dealer.

I rang Hassel Service inquiring the cost of programming my alarm. Left my name, number and mentioned work on my new 2006 mcs but not the details... I never recieved any call back... its been 36 hours...

Now imagine if they had my car... hells no.

That is not good news! I just bought one from them; their service department looks great and the folks I met there were so nice.

Last one I bought at Mini of the Hamptons, and they were pretty good too.
Sure hope I don't have to bring the new one back 9 times in 16k miles like my 03!

regards,
Red

Definite assess the competency of the service department when choosing a MINI dealership... That is my highest recommendation... They can make your experience a joy or h3ll.

With a name like Hassel you set your self up for disaster! . Seriously though, with all the problems you've had with them, I'd say you gave them more than enough chance to rectify the situation. Move on, and get your sick Mini to a competent dealer. Hope everything gets sorted out!

They should change the spelling of the name to HASSLE not HASSEL, I bought my black car from there, and that's all it was, a big HASSLE. I don't think that anyone that works there knows what they are doing.

I bought Obie at Hassel. I had the first service done there - no problems.

My front passenger seat had started to develop 'stretch marks' very soon after I had th ecar and I wanted a new seat. They ordered one and installed it, and it had the same stretch marks on it. Not only that, but the dye lots didn't match my original interior, and I coul dsee the difference. When I saw this, I asked them to reinstall my original seat, and keep the new one for someone else, and they told me that in order to replace the seat, they had to cut it out of its frame, so the old seat was trash. I was pissed they didn't tell me this first. It's that kind of crap that has always kept me out of new car dealerships to begin with. My local garage guy tells me _everything_ I may need to know before he does _any_ work on my car. He cares, partly because my continued patronage depends on it. Dealerships generally don't give a ***** because there's always a constant supply of new customers buying new cars. If any of you locals (to me) have ever had any experience with Arnold Chevy's service dept, you probably know what I mean.

When my windshield developed a stress crack, I had it replaced there (on them). One thing that bothers me about that job was that they left some what looks like white plastic just barely hanging out from under the passenger side A-pillar. Sloppy workmanship for something they do so often because the windshields suck).

My MA was a woman named Maureen. I wouldn't even talk to anyone else when I was in and out of there while buying the car. She has since left to become a sales person at a Mercedes-Benz dealership. The point here is that when she was at Hassel, I would often have her handle my dealings with service because talking to them was akin to talking to a wall. She made things happen and got things done.

I would not be happy about running up to Huntington. I am in Massapequa, and Freeport is much closer. But it's good to know I have another alternative should I need it.
