Drivetrain M& DFIC parts & Install
M& DFIC parts & Install
I wish this was about install and driving impressions but alas after doing the install, my son and housekeeper advise me that - the battery light, ABS, low tire pressure lights ARE ALL ON and "Oh yea there doesn't seem to be power steering".
What are the odds that a dealer will take me tomorrow?
Welcome to Bahamabart's world. :impatient
PARTS
1) The items were all rapped, 100% and nicely boxed for shipping.
2) IC and deflector are beautiful all buffed and the new ends look good.
As the crew of the Black Pearl said to Captain Jack Sparrow - "we need a little shiny". Well this is it me Buckoos!
3) Scoop - I was under the impression that it would be ready for paint
but it will require sanding – it is a little ruff. The only comment /suggestion, I have is raise the finish quality of the scoop.
INSTALL
M7 includes a CD instruction guide; I printed it and went thru it. It is excellent step by step oriented installation guide with supporting pictures. It just doesn’t get anymore straight forward than this - excellent job.
The install took me no time at all (45mins) but this is my second IC install. My only difficulty was caused by the aftermarket boots that I had purchased previously which just have no give whatsoever. The good news is that the skin on my knuckles will grow back
.
Scoop – getting the bolts in the stock hood holes required just a little prodding but popped in place.
Here are some pics

ONCE I GET THE CAR 100% - I WILL POST MY DRIVING IMPRESSIONES.

That's what you get for calling me Randy....

As for the problem of christmas lights in the middle of the summer???
My first guess is that the boots are not sealing, causing a vacuum leak.
What else could it possibly be, no vacuum no brakes and for the rest of those shiny lights.....that's what happens when the engine stops running with the ignition on...
As for the finish of the scoop, the surface is something called gelcote it's there to be sanded and prepped for paint, that's it.
Please call if there's anything else I can do for you.

Bahamabart,
With all those lights on and no power steering, I'm pretty sure its your alternator which has gone bad, or at least the voltage regulator on the alternator. This already happened to me, after changing the alt, it went back to normal.

The DFIC has no involvement in the "problems", I am experiencing. All of this had occurred prior to the IC swap. Like I said nobody bothered to tell me as I work my little heart out to install the IC - its just when I tell my son - "okay lets go for a test drive" that he lays this on me!
Boost I've got - seals/boots seem fine. No doubt the alternator or ground is the focal point of the power sterrring / battery problem. As for the ABS? not sure but its dealer time anyway. As for the tire pressure light - I actually know what to do here.
Scoop - thanks Peter for clarifying. I hope no one interpreted my comments as it being poor in quality which is not the case. Compared to the stock scoop its beefy. The "little ruff" just implies that some hand sanding is required before paint which is what M7 is saying. Personally I find the scoop awesome, it's agressive yet elegant and the off center hole is quirky. All of which I think commpliments the car.
A round of applause must go to MSFITOY and JS for I think they nailed it.
PS - how do you like the pic of the DFIC next to the GTT? Slight difference in size!
