Exhaust Systems Hawaii on king quoted $95 and 1-1.5 hours....

kinda think that is high... should be more like 40-60...

$40-60 are mainland prices so it sounds about right to me.

I spoke to a MINI driver that has had the one ball for about 2+ years-

He said it cost about $45 from Exhaust Systems Hawaii- he took it there, they looked at it and he explained what needed to be modified and they said ok and did it. I think if they estimated the cost over the phone without seeing the stock exhaust they might be doing a higher estimate- so take in your MINI and show them it is easy to do- hence worth $45. Plus ESH on King has already done it before.

The benefit of the one ball for the MCS-
Cheap- compared to almost anything else
Loose some excess weight permanently
Sounds better than stock but not loud and doesn't drone
Seems OK on performance- no negative effect, probably MINImal positive effect.

actually I did show them... got the before/after pics of the bypass off the NAM site..

however, the bypass they sell online is just $125 for the pipe... so $95 for their "pipe" and install/weld isn't looking so bad...

going to try and get it done before the mini run...

got it done today at modern muffler on N. King (close to my work)... $130 & 1.5hrs... took me as a walkin & got busy on it... chopped it... put in a 90 elbow..aligned & tac welded.. dropped the cat back & battery cover, finished the weld... put it back up...

sounds like the reg system.. just a little more louder... gurgling noise is louder, more frequent, and a bit sharper

plus I kinda wanted the elbow to be welded.. not the clamped version mymini sells... pretty much the same as the pic in this thread...

my resonator is in their muffler pile in the front if anyone wants it...
