Dents/dings in the Supercharger radiator fins

I am noticing some dents in the supercharger radiator. Am considering installing a mesh or screen to prevent rocks and debris from hitting the fins of the radiator up top. any suggestions?

Well, grilleguy.com might be able to hook you up.

you mean something like this?

it's easy to do yourself too... just go to HD and get some rain gutter guard, a pair of tin snips (if you don't have them already) and go home and start working. the plastic piece that goes under the hood by the scoop comes off real easy with 2 screws and 2 8mm bolts. then make the gutter guard fit in the opening and you're set.

At first I read this and didn't know what you were talking about but you are describing the Intercooler

A simple scoop grill will help. I do like the ones from Grill Guy as he does the hard part for you.

Gutter Gaurd is the answer. You can even spray paint it any color you want. One more thing to make your MINI stand out.

How would you attach something like a gutter guard to plastic?

Like for the lower grille.

I'm not sure how you would attach it on the lower side. For the SC intake I just sandwiched it in.

wad that mesh into a ball & stick it back in the scoop as a lame demonstration of how you will be restricting airflow. The fins are easily straightened with a knife blade. Don't look at the radiator fins. Its needed for cooling also.

I don't want anything to slow down airflow so as yet no grill for me.

I have found a "Pick comb" at the local drug store.

It is plastic and the perfect size to straighten 6 rows at once.

Harbor Freight sells a Radiator Fin Straightener, with six different sizes of "combs" and it's only $2.49.

Any good body shop supply or automotive paint supply will sell a "radiator comb" - very nice for straightening out those fins.

Grille

I have used common wire screen material underneath the supercharger plastic cover to at least prevent bug and debris entry. Very simple but so far works well. Just another idea.

LOL

I've catch one with my Subaru Impreza's hood scoop...

It was gross.

My Scooby's hood scoop was larger than the MCS's one too.

Btw, to stick back to the main topic, my intercooler has 2-3 dents on it, but nothing major yet.
