Interior/Exterior Installed Quintuple Checkerboard Stripe
Installed Quintuple Checkerboard Stripe
It didn't take too long and I think it looks pretty good - [pictures soon].
I installed a quintuple checkerboard bonnet stripe on my LY MCSC. It took about 2 hours including the time to run out to the hardware store to get some double-sided tape to re-apply the MINI emblem. It's not too hard. It seems like the trick is to make the bonnet wet enough to allow you to float the stripe on a small layer of water and move it around until it's in position. Then you use the squeegee included in the kit to sqeeze out the water and a soft towel to pat it dry. I used a sharp knife to carefully cut the edges of the sticker at the gaps at the scoop and the grill.
I removed the front MINI emblem using a heat gun to warm it up (carefully - not too hot as it's just made of plastic) and then dental floss to lift the edges. With the edges up high enough, I inserted a wooden toothpick at the center of the emblem to loosen the adhesive tape there. Then more pulling with the dental floss and it popped off.
I used soapy water to remove the remnants of the adhesive tape from the bonnet and soaked the emblem for about 30 minutes to loosen the adhesive still stuck on it. I picked that off with my fingernails.
The stripe is black checkerboard with the LY showing through to create the checkerboard design. I got it from MightyStripes. I have enough left over to do the boot, too. Maybe next weekend...

Looks good
By the title I was expecting to see one of the side stripes but I think that this was a very neat additio to your MINI and I like the wat it matches the LY, a mix between the race track and taxi cab.
