Your opinion please - ASA AR-1 vs Flik Wasp
Your opinion please - ASA AR-1 vs Flik Wasp
Need help in comparing these two wheels. Would like to hear the pro's and con's comparing these two wheels.
I have the flik wheels. I prefer the fake bolts on the asa. I think it's too flashy on the flik and a pain to keep clean. I like the lip better on the flik. The asa is very squared off, to me it doesn't quite pull it off with the shallow dish. The flik is a little more rounded at the edge. Those are the only differences I can see. The spoke design seems to be identical. I wouldn't be suprised if they are made by the same place. The price on the flik seems to float between 105 and 150 dollars. I got mine at $105 thinking what the hell they are less than my tires and if one gets bent no big deal. They have taken some extreemly hard hits that I wouldn't expect any wheel to survive and held up very well. The finish has done well too. I have been very impressed with the quality of the flik's and I am considering more of their wheels. I don't think I could bring myself to pay $350+ per wheel after having these.
Either one looks great in 17", but I would lean toward the asa for the cleaner bolts.

planning on the ASAs. Main reason: you can get them in 16". I prefer the charcol color of the Fliks, but I do not want to go to a 17" rim.
Don't know if i am going to want to paint brand new ASAs either....

I don't know the ASAs, but I love my Wasps. I paid $300 for a set with runflats on (thanks Todd) and the only problem I've had with them is that the runflats wore out a year and a half later.

Licensed by BBS means that they use the same technology and are made in the same manner as the BBS wheels. Meaning ASA actually got together with BBS and uses their same methods. The AR-1's are actually a replica one of the BBS wheels, RG-T or one of those I can't remember now.
tire rack has them - they just don't come up as an option on the MCS "builder".
If you use a regular cooper, or a 90-97 miata or something they come up.
or, search, wheels > brand> ASA.
16" only in silver... I would really like antricite as well....

02///MCS, where did you see these wheels? I went to check out wheels at Good Roads in Ft. Lauderdale and all they carry these days is bling and more bling. Is there a good wheel shop in south Florida that carries more performance oriented wheels?
I have the ASA's. I was torn between the ASA's and the Wasps as well. But I'm glad I went with the ASA's. I think the polished lip on the ASA's is much nicer looking than on the Wasps.
