Fisher, I understood you clearly. Be careful around here. There's some people who think English is the ONLY language you should type in on the Internet. They will try to push you aside and make fun of you if your grammar and spelling are not perfect. See a forum thread called "Their, There, They're" or something like that, and you'll see what I mean.
As to your problem, I have the MCS and it make no noise. So I suggest taking it to your dealership.

Hi Folks,
I'm new to the MCO board, having spent most of my past year on the roadfly board. I've had an 03 MCS since January of this year and have about 3500 miles on mine.
I also have a transmission / gearbox noise, sort of 'clackity clakcity clack...' that disappears when the clutch is depressed.
There have been several posts on roadfly about this, and there are several possible reasons for this noise, some good, some bad. I will try to summarize what was said on roadfly, but for specifics check there:
Scenario 1:
not necessarily a problem. Some people have stated that many Getrga boxes, and specifically 6-speed boxes, make such noises when idling that disappear with the clutch pressed, and that this is normal for a getrag box. Nobody had any ideas why only some cars might have this noise, if this is indeed the source of the noise.
Scenario 2:
this could be the throwout bearing of the clutch, as several have suggested. However, some believe the pattern if this is the throwout bearing should be the opposite: it should clack only when the clutch is depressed. In my opinion this depends on the type of clutch. In my old MG I had similar noises that disappeared with the clutch depressed. A little bit of noise from the throwout could also be acceptable, if this becomes louder it is something to worry about.
Scenario 3:
the worst of these 3: some have suggested it could be a maladjusted or malfunctioning belt tensioner. Those that have experienced such a problem have reported a clacking sound at idle. These folks however also had supercharger problems (a loudly whining belt), and the problem dispappeared when the whole supercharger was replaced. Even if the clacking stems from the belt tensioner, a change in sound with depressed clutch could happen, as the load on the engine changes ever so slightly when the clutch is depressed.
To be safe, have this checked out by the dealer. It might also help to compare the sounds of your car to those of others, if any are nearby.
My sounds are not strong enough to have me worried yet, and they only occaasionally appear. I will have the dealer look at it next time I bring it in, which may still be a week or two.
Hope this helps.
Cheers!

Hi. How could i know what point is? First or second? I hear that noise only when the clutch is pressed. If i depressed my clucth very slowly, that sound dissapear. If i depressed my clutch fast, i heard sound like tok, tok, tok. When i am drive i don't hear that noise. When i get the car i didn't hear that sound, maybe i was so upsed i didn't hear it. Now it's all the time the same sound, not louder or something. What you think, it's something wrong or what. I'd like to know, if has somebody here the same "problem"?
Bye

Take it to the dealer.
Thanks Dcooper for starightening things out. Yes, English is the only language to type here unless you dont want everyone to read. Which is why this is here.
You are getting slammed for being the goofball to even bring it up. You must have been spanked lately.
Is this a gearbox problem or spelling grammer issue. Since it is a gearbox issue, lets keep on track and talk about that.

I understand you perfectly. I have had the sam e problem for a couple of months now and I have been complaining to the dealership about it numerous times. Finally yesterday they told me I need a new clutch. It should be in next week and the car should work properly. It suck that I have to be without my car for atleast a whole workday. I will let you know exactly what is wrong and if the dealers solution fixed the problem. :???:
No, i didn't go yet. I don't have any time. It's only one dealership. I don't have a lot of hope, that he willl know anything about that gearbox problem.
I thought that you were looking for the type of advice you've received on this thread. Perhaps someone should have suggested ear plugs so that you could just ignore the noise?
Sorry if I'm harsh, but I for one hate to think that anyone out there is driving around in a sick MINI...
I've got the same issue...Feb '03 build. As soon as I get the trucking company that brought my car out to pay for curbing the rim when they unloaded it
, I plan to take my MCS in and also have this sound looked at. People over at MINI2 have mentioned they've had gearboxes replaced, which doesn't make me feel much better.
Especially since it partially covers up that wonderful engine sound.
