Eval, we live in the Sacramento area, but will be motoring up from Long Beach on the day before (29th). Do you know of any inexpensive, but clean, motels in the vacinity? A group dinner would be great! Maybe at Pier 39 or Fisherman's Wharf? We know a good cioppino house near by. Plus, Bubba Gump's is always good.

Hmm, I'm not terribly familiar with motels in SF personally - my Dad stays at a B&B near us in the Sunset that seems fine and close to the Irving street action, but I have a feeling you want to be closer to the touristy stuff based on the places you've mentioned.
What I do to find places for myself and others is check over reviews on Tripadvisor, Yelp, and to a lessor degree Citysearch (I've found that they will censor bad reviews of places that sponser them, thus it can be very inaccurate) then go to their websites, and bed/breakfast & travel search engines to find internet specials. I think you should be able to find a place thats not too expensive with no problem - just be sure to check on the parking status, I find that can be a deal breaker in many cities.
As for a group dinner The Beach or Park Chalet (http://www.beachchalet.com/) is right across the street from the ocean so parking could probably be managed at the beach lot and we can all just cross the street for grub. Or we could drive across the GG bridge to Marin perhaps.. all depends on how many and what the food preferences/cost factors are. Perhaps as it get closer we can get a headcount since we will need reservations almost anywhere good for a Sat night group.
Hope that helps, let me know if you have any questions
Well boys and girls, the 100+ mile route seems to be established, subject to change of course. A text only copy of the route is available online on our REME MegaBBS and we will develop a map closer to the event.
This is the Ad Agency's first MINI event so we should show some support with a good turnout.

SF Midnight Run with Ad Agency Day
Since many are planning to attend the BSSP Ad agency run starting at Crissy Field in SF on Sunday morning April 30th, anybody interested in making it a MINI night in SF? Some will be travelling a fair distance. Why not come early, have some fun, and you won't have to drive that far in the AM.
The idea of buzzing around SF at night sounds great. Quoit Tower, Twin Peaks, Broadway, Embarcadero, China Town, Fisherman's Warf, Riding the Cable cars, an Irish coffee at Buena Vista, etc....etc...etc....
A drive out to Treasure Island with cameras for some shots of the SF skyline at sunset.
Then the Ad agency breakfast and run starting at Crissy field. Hot Coffee and bagels.
This does not have to be a formal "event", just a bunch of rogue MINIs having "a night out on the town". Tuxes and Evening gowns are optional. We can find a meetup point and go from there.
If interested please either post on NAM or drop me an email. (norm@redwoodempiremini.com or just show up.
By the way, and for the record, the idea of a Midnight SF Run came from McLeonard and the NIKKI Bammers (so if it turns out bad, it's his fault). If is turns out great, I'll take the credit.

Larry,
Since its a little late to "organize" group hotels and such, so I am suggesting that everyone find a hotel near the Marina District (Crissy Field). Jessica and I got a room at the Greenwich Inn on Steiner, others got a room at La Qunita 1050 Van Ness @ Geary,. I can't vouch for any of these, but I have stayed at the Capri off Lombard. I'd stay there again. Nothing special, but clean and safe. I know that some are coming down from Sacramento. And someone is staying at the Comfort Inn.
Suggestions for meetup are the Cliff House of the Chalet, Buena Vista Bar above Fisherman's Warf, and others.
I plan to get to SF early enough to do some mid day sight-seeing. I'm up for a MINI run starting before dark and continuing beyond. There are plenty of places for us to get into trouble.
I'll keep posting info here for where and when we all meet up.
Once we get a little more idea of how many will be staying in SF, we can pick a meet-up point and time. So far I have gotten a flood of ideas for places to go and things to do.
This is "on-the-fly", but should be a lot of fun.

The Buena Vista is a nice spot unless you get alot of people. Quite a few Norcal people live close enough they won't need hotels. You should let Sarah know about this some sunset shots would be cool on her video.

Jim
We're staying at the Comfort Inn, 825 Polk... it's the lowest priced place listed on the AAA site with a good rating.
The Chalet near Great Highway is a good spot to meet up, it has a HUGE parking area.
