man, i feel stupid. offset question:

i have done an offset search (the best i could) and i still haven't figured this out just yet.

heres the deal:
im looking to squeeze a set of 18"s (not sure of the wheel just yet) on the mini and drop it a bit. what i want to do is tuck the wheels in the fenders.
now, ill be the first to admit im clueless as far as offset goes and have been for sometime now. so, excuse me if i sound like and idiot.
i desperately need to know what offset am i lookin for and which one(s) im looking to avoid in order to achieve my goal.

please help.

if you want a tucked-in look, i'd probably get a +48mm 18x7 and run some
205/40 tires.
