Anyone know of a head to head comparison of the different array of intake and exhaust systems out there? I'm looking for the most bang for my buck, (like most consumers) and it seems the choices are dizzying...

I work at a VW performance shop, and my fiancee (L.Mini) has a cooper on order, so I'll probably go through and research them as best I can, and post any findings up here....and also let everyone know what we put on her Cooper

I have been impressed with the quality of other parts that I bought from Moss Motors, so I am leaning towards their custom MINI exhaust. They claim a 3% - 5% HP improvement. ($399 cost) MossMini

However, first I would like to see the Dyno results (head-to-head comparisons) between this and the others : Mini-Mania, Rogue Engineering, etc.

Save your money.....below is quote from a mini owner that had both the exhaust and air intake and it gained a whopping 3 hp....seems like a lot of hype from the sellers of these aftermarket products...

"The new Mini Mania airbox. This plus the exhaust were worth 3 horsepower on a chassis dyno. The MINI is well-optimized out of the box"

Has anyone upgraded their exhaust or heard of new offerings from aftermarket suppliers? I haven't bought a new one yet, but am seriously looking.

I sent an email to Neuspeed asking when their MC performance exhaust would be available, but no response yet...

If you have replaced yours, please respond with your thoughts! Can anyone tell me what HP gains they are getting from a Rogue Engineering exhaust?

i do have the rouge engineering exhaust kit for the mini cooper.

cant tell you the hp gain, but did experience more torque and faster cruising speed. over all powerband increase, only thing i didnt like was the exhaust noise,it was too loud, especially on the freeway.
i recommand you buy the silencer tip with the system. will post photos soon.

a rason for such a lack of power from the aftermarket exhaust is with the larger exhaust you lose backpressure and with a NA motor this can actualy result in a loss in HP only for forced induction is it best to have a much larger exhaust. the mini exhaust is probably a good size for the power of the engine.
hope this helps

The December issue of GRASSROOTS MOTORSPORTS will have a MINI Cooper exhaust dyno shootout. Look for it in early November. -Eric

I just saw that on the GRASSROOTS MOTORSPORTS website!

Couldn't wait, I already bought the Rogue exhaust...I should have it installed by this weekend.

I just had my Rogue exhaust installed this morning... it sounds great! I will post futher comments on performance improvement after a while.

It is definitely louder than stock, but not too loud.

I also had the Rogue exhaust installed on my Cooper last Saturday. I would say it definitely feels like there is some more torque, and the sound makes driving it all the more enjoyable. Interior noise level is a little higher, but if I was driving on the highway with the windows down previously, it was pretty loud to begin with. Kind of cool to walk around your MINI while it's idling and you've got that low level gurgle going

I also have the Rogue exhaust, and I love it. It is loud, the resonator adds a lot of growl inside the car. There is a performance gain, but I have not had it on the dyno. The other interesting thing, the sound gets sweeter with a little time. I have 5000 miles on the exhaust and it just keeps sounding better.

I took my Cooper to the SCCA National Championships and out of 8 Coopers in H Stock many though mine sounded best.

The Borla exhaust is worth 6hp to the wheels on the MCS. Sounds great, not too loud, and a HUGE weight savings.

I e-mailed Bassani about an exhaust system for the mini's. They have no plans to make one at this time.
