Can't find a solid answer: '06 HK NO NAV- ID3 tags possible?

Just need a straight answer on whether there's any adapter (icelink?) that will allow me to view ID3 tags on my HK headunit (no nav).

If not do you still retain functional control from the ipod when connected with the icelink? (So that I can use the MFSW controls 90% of the time but quickly get to the right album/artist when needbe?)

Ipod Nano and '06 w/ HK but no nav.

Thanks VERY much, I've searched and seen people say that some years support ID3 tags, but can't figure out the answer to this.

Short answer is "yes".

Having ID3 tag support for me is very important because my iPod sits in the glove box and is never taken out to change what I listen to. Nobody knows its there and no mounting clips anywhere. Being able to navigate to any playlist and having > 5 playlists via the radio display is why I love the Dension ice-link.

Not having the NAV system is a good thing right now as there are current issues with support for it.

My $.02:
Order direct from Dension in case what you purchase needs to be exchanged out for the new H/W model due in a few weeks. (see some of my other posts)
Make sure you get the head unit install model to save yourself installation hassles. I did the CD changer model install and while it was much easier than the one in my 330convertible, it was more work than necessary.

Cheers!

Speednut is right. The Dension Icelink will work in an 06 with h/k (both nav and no nav). However, if you have nav, you cannot really turn on the tags as it takes over the nav system covering your map.

Since you don't have a nav, it is pretty straight forward and easy. The HU version took me about 15 min to install and I ran the cable straight down to the cubby.

I have an '06 H/K (no NAV) with a 5G Ipod. The ID3 tags display just fine (I had to change 1 setting the the Dension menu). I have my Ipod on the Euro parcel shelf so all I have to do is hit #6 and then use the Ipod to go to a different playlist or album (at a stoplight of course). And you can not see the Ipod from outside the car so I don't have to take it with me all the time.

wonderful!

Thank you all very much for the help. I have a "neo" box from mp3yourcar.com in my Toyota Tacoma and am not too thrilled- the text only uses the right half of the screen and the response time when changing songs/ scrolling through artists takes forever.

Hopefully the Denison in the mini will be the Ipod integration I've been looking for!

Never mind - spent a few minutes with it, easier than the 05 one. Figured i would have to do the song & dance again, never even tried it!

so, YES, ID3's work on my 06 HK.

-------

Can you please explain all that in a step by step process?

I have the trunk mount icelinks in both our 05 & 06 MINI's (no nav in either).

I used a firmware update or something a while ago to enable the ID3 tags on the 05 (it's been a while). ID3 tags work great, but you have the pull the iPod out of the cradle to use it's controls.

On the 06, the icelink is straight out of the box, haven't even done the ID3 firmware update or anything. It sounds like you were in a similar spot, but did not have to mess around with different firmware, etc, and still have full iPod control when you hit the "6" button.

that is exactly what i want - It would he great if you could explain that!!!!

thank you!
