R50/53 Ideal Tire pressure?
I'm sorry, I did a search on this topic but didn't find a whole lot of feedback, so I guess I'll just ask:
Up until this morning I was running my tires at 38 psi, and found the ride quality to be rather on the harsh side, so I checked the "official" pressure in the manual and it states 33 psi.
Brought it down to the "recommended" pressure and the ride is certainly a lot softer, but the difference in performance seems pretty substancial.
I had expected the handling to suffer a bit, but what really surprised me was the way that the acceleration is affected with the lower tire pressure. It feels considerably slower, and lacks the "snap" in acceleration that I felt with my tires at 38 psi.
Does anyone else have any experience with different pressure settings? And if so, what do you recommend as an "ideal" pressure?
By the way, I've got 17" Performance Pirelli Run-flats.

Yeah, I figured 38psi was the way to go. I wonder why the manual says 33 though, it just feels way too sluggish to me...

I was running the 33psi for the first bit that I had my MCS. Then when I brought it into a friend for a coolant flush, he recommended that I go to 40psi. Damn, what a difference that made. I have the 16" runflats. Usually with any car, adding pressure above the recommended pressure will add performance. But this was pretty cool. I've been running 40psi since.
Cheers,
Cheers,
You might want to look at THIS THREAD. It talks about running different tire pressures in the front, around 34 and 38 in the rear. I actually read the thread wrong back in Dec and ran my MCS backwards (higher pressure in the front) for a week, that was definitely odd feeling.
