New Here. GTO Owner

My best friend is a member on this site so I decided to join. I like learning about his car from him, and helping him work on things. I figured I could join this site and learn. I'm a member of ls1gto.com too. Its a really cool site if anyone is interested in the old or new 2004-2006 GTO's. Anyone here own both a mini and a GTO? that would be pretty cool. Well my name is Tommy. I'm from Wisconsin. Thanks for letting me introduce myself.

Welcome Tommy. Careful....symptoms from being bit by the mini bug get progressively worse.

Welcome Tommy ... Didn't GM just kill the new GTOs? I guess that mean you got a classic on your hands already

welcome

I have a 72 Stage1 Buick as well as my new 05 MCS. was a tough choice for me between a new GTO or the MCS-after lots of considering and test driving, my next new car purchase was narrowed down to these 2!! In the end, the GTO, as good as it is, was too much of a replication of my 72 musclecar, and I really wanted to try something different-I was afraid if I bought a new musclecar, I would never drive my old one. Problem is, I've driven my old car twice in 6 months-all i want to drive is the MCS!!

I love all the late model ls1/ls2 cars from the 98 f bodies and vettes thru your GTO.

Tommy that's an awesome car. I love the new GTOs but I didn't test drive one last year when I was shopping because they were a little too expensive for me. But I got to drive one when the body shop I worked for got one to fix. I loved it. Very powerful, very high quality interior, nice clean looks. There's a lot to be said for that big RWD V8 feel. I can't wait for the all new GTO in a couple years. (Assuming the rumors are true)

I really liked the new GTO when I heard about it. When I finally saw it, I was a little disappointed by the styling -- far too "early 90's japanese" imo -- but still interested enough to want to drive one. Unfortunately, after just sitting in it, I knew there was no way I would ever own one. It's tiny inside. My legs locked the wheel and I couldn't even starighten my neck because the roof was so low. The other cars I tried in the lot were nearly as bad. The soltice, corvette, and GTO are completely unusable to a large segment of the market because of this. My ex-gf, who is 5'10, couldn't fit in the vette or the soltice at the car show. If they want to make good sales numbers, they're going to have to stop designing their cars around the napoleon complex. And that's really unfortunate. Ford is just as bad. And I can drive DC's V8 cars but their refusal to offer a manual transmission is a refusal of my business.

IMO, Mini's got it all -- good perfomance, excellent handling, adequate driver's space, one of the best thrill factors of any car I've driven (which includes my old hotrodded nova and the m coupe my parents used to have), as well as pretty good pricing.

I'm 6'7 and big, and I was very comfortable in the GTO but the Corvette.......no way in heck would that happen. I can't even begin to contort myself to get down into one. Good thing I can't afford it anyway
