Cloth Upholstery messed up

On Valentines's day I was a really great husband and got my one-and-only (wife, not girlfreind) a dozen roses and I even delivered them to her at her work. Well, this story shows that "karma" is b_ _ _s_ _ t!!

Lots of points, right? Yeah, BUT when I removed the flowers from the front passenger's seat (yes, putting them there instead of on the floor was a crucial mistake) I saw that the idiot who packed them had left the vase full to the brim and the idiot who put them in the car and belted them in (ME) had not noticed.

The result was that the water (and whatever weird chemical was in it) spilled (about a half a cup's worth) into the seat upholstery .

At the time, I thought it was just water and would dry up with no worries, right? But there is a big huge mark all around the edge of the area that soaked up the stuff. It's kind-of brown right at the edge, and just slightly darker inside the perimeter of the spill. It looks like I had some little kid in the seat who p_ _ _ ed its pants and it leaked onto the seat -- about one foot up the back and eight inches from the back of the seat toward the front all the way from side to side. It's really sick.

My upholstery is the 2004 Space Gray/Panther Black Cloth. Can anyone tell me what to do?

Thanks.

Try this

I have an answer to you seats. ONLY to be done when you can leave the car windows / doors open on a nice dry day !
I have the same issue. always seem to chase the spots around every time I cleaned them but this works...
Ues a spray on upholstery cleaner (I use Turtle Wax "Power Out") spray on not a bunch but a even foam then mist witt some plain water (I have a spray bottle) about as much as if you were cleaning windows. Now gently use the brush that comes on the can and rub a bit. With a very damp (OK wet) clean cloth work the foam away, your seats will be evenly WET. Now with a clean dry cloth (I find the kitchen towell that my wife JUST washed best) rub as dry as you can. Now leave it alone to air dry.
The seats will be B E A U T I F U L

I too have space gray and have had the problem of chasing water marks around. Someone rested their coffee cup on the seat and it had GREASE from their workbench on it!!

I got the oil out with spot remover but there was always a stain where the water stopped. I tried washing that out and ended up with a bigger stain. In the enad I made the whole seat damp, up to where the black fabric starts and when it dried, it looked like new! (phew)

Have to thank you for this post. I followed your process with the Power Out and it worked perfectly! Our conv. seats were horrible-water stains, coffee stain, grease- and now look like new.

I have the same problems with rain hitting the cloth arm rest on the doors. Thanks for the tips on how to make them disappear.

If nothing else works, 303 Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner supposedly is the best.

Water marks on the cloth seats...

I got the cloth because I was worried about my enormous Rottie messing up the leatherette with his claws. I too am having a problem with water marks; I had to clean the passenger seat after chauffering my poor ol' 92-year-old Grannie to dinner and back. Poor Grannie's bladder is not what it should be, alas.

The spots cleaned up easily (I used some Blue Coral dry-cleaning wipes), but now I have darker patches around the edges of the cleaned portion. Please tell me that they'll come out--Perdita's only a month old!! I'll try wetting the entire seat with water first, and I guess if that fails I'll try some Power Out. Has anyone used Resolve on their cloth seats? It never occurred to me that I would have to deal with anything other than the occasional coffee stain. The water marks are a bit of a mystery to me; my old Saturn had sturdy velour-type upholstery which cleaned fine with Resolve and with a minimum of fuss.

Oh well. Now I need to figure out what to do about Grannie.

Get a foam based upholstery cleaner. I use this and it has worked very well. Don't get anything too harsh. Sometimes you need to do it in a couple of treatments...

PowerOut has worked really well for me too. It gets out grease, everything. I've yet for it to let me down.

Yep as has been mentioned this stuff works great, and so does the accompanying product for carpets. Just a note. Remove the brush cap and then brush the foam out. Don't use it on the can, otherwise you will unintentionally spray foam where you didn't mean to. Note that when you put the cap back on, there is a pin that aligns with the cap so it only goes on one way.

Cleaning cloth seats...........................

If you have a "wet or dry" vac try sucking the excess water out of the cleaned area. My grand daughter recently dumped a whole “Sonic” chocolate shake (yeah I know don't let 'em eat in the car in the first place but I’m a softy) and I chased a ring round the stain for weeks when I let the spot air dry. One day I tried using my shop vac to suck out the excess moisture and speed drying the spot. It presumably removed the remaining residue that caused the dried ring because it now looks good and you can’t tell it was ever stained. Hope this helps......................(MTR ON)..................mgg

anyone have experiences with

303 Fabric Cleaner
303 High Tech Fabric Guard
303 Carpet & Upholstery Cleaner

The thread up top references Carpet & Upholstrey cleaner, but Autopia caries all 3 of those, I'm wondering if its good to use the Cleaner with the Fabric Guard, or will one suffice? (Carpet & Upholstry is much cheaper too!)

The 303 Fabric Cleaner is a more concentrated version of the 303 Carpet & Upholestery Cleaner. Other than the concentration level, they are literally the exact same thing. The price difference reflects this concentration level diference. (side note: the Fabric Cleaner also comes in a 1 gallon size, while the other does not) Both are extremely effective at removing just about any dirt, stain, etc out of any material that is water-safe. Neither contains solvents. They're really amazing cleaners! I use them literally everywhere... car and non-car related.

The 303 Fabric Guard is completely different from the other 2. It is not a cleaner at all. It is a fabric protectant, used to make your seats, top, etc. water-proof and dirt/stain-resistant. There was recently another thread about it. All who have used it find it as excellent a product as I do. You can look for this other thread for more details about the FG.

To answer your final question, it depends on what you're looking to do. If you want to protect your fabric, use the Fabric Guard. You'll want to clean the fabric before protecting it though (either cleaner would good). If you just want to clean and not protect, just use one of the cleaners alone.

We also carry all of the 303 products, including all of the above referenced.

(we also have a free shipping deal going on right now... visit the Vendor Announcements for more info)

Good luck!
