USS-Hornet Field Trip 03-05-06

It's time to relight a fire under this event! We will be meeting in the parking lot in front of the USS-Hornet in Alameda promptly by 9:30 am on Sunday, March 5. If you want time to visit with your REME friends, arrive earlier. We currently have reservations for 35 people. The numbers who have RSVP 'd are now approximately 31 people. Based upon our last few events, I expect that we will exceed the estimate significantly, but I will want to warn the museum management if we do. Please RSVP ASAP on the REME MegaBBS so that I can make additional arrangements if necessary. Non REME members may have to register on the BBS to make reservations.

To avoid having each member having to stand in the entry line, one member will be paying the bill for entry onto the museum for all of us. Therefore be prepared to pay the designated member in the parking lot at 9:30 am. Because of our numbers, we will gain entrance onto the USS-Hornet at the reduced cost of $12 per person.

We will be loading onto the ship promptly at 10 am. Bring a lunch or be prepared to purchase your meal onboard at a first-class hamburger vendor.
If you love history, WW2 history, Military history, or NASA space history, this is an event you will not want to miss.

One of my favorite things about this event is SOUND of several Borla "Sport" Catbacks travelling through the Alameda Tunnel at high RPM!!!!!

Rob, you will have a whole lot more response from Sacramento area members on our own REME MegaBBS.... we are getting a lot more activity there then here. Howard has a normal set of meetup points and you should make sure you are on his Sacramento REME list.

Rob is on my contacts mailing list for Sac Valley REME. Since the event is two weeks from tomorrow I will get a run map to Alameda prepared and mailed by tomorrow. Roseville will be the start point for the caravan and I will schedule a pit stop on I80 just west of highway 12 on at what used to be the Red Top Cremery. Their is a Mini Mart there now and it is a quick off and back on to I80.

Good morning from Tahoe, i really enjoyed our first trip together to scout out this upcoming event. I also agree about the sound of our exhaust going through the Tunnel. I hope to have 3 Mini's from our group meeting up with Sacramento REME. Will know more soon about where we will join in if we can. Enjoying the day off. To cold to venture out right now, 18 outside. Glenn

It looks like we may have about 24 cars participating as of today... maybe close to 40 people. Great turnout for a field trip!

Nope, but my mother-in-law has a vacation house in Tahoma and I was there within the last 4 months.

Peter,

Larry and Tami Paquett and I will be joining you at the hornet. Don't know about any other NorCal members but you can count on 3 of us, maybe 4 if my wife comes along.

William,

Welcome to ALLl Nor Cal members. This field trip will be right in your back yard. There is a $12.00/person fee for the tour. For details check the REME website @ www.redwoodempiremini.com, then click on MegaBBS, then to REME events, then USS Hornet.

Bring a lunch or enjoy the fine cooking of the Hornet staff as they BBQ some of the great burgers right from the Hangar Deck.
