Wheel Arch and Side Skirt Clips...

I recently removed all of my wheel arches and both side skirts so that I can paint them. I found them very easy to take off, especially since I broke most of the plastic retaining clips which hold them in place. I had a piece of paper (which I got for some thread) which showed all of the MINI part numbers for the clips and their prices. The cost to replace ALL the clips was only supposed to be about $16. I called a local MINI dealership and started to order them until I found out the price for all the clips was over $200! Am I the only one who thinks that this is WAY overpriced? While talking to the parts manager I found out that it would be cheaper to order all the trim bits and side skirts than it would be to get the clips.

Does anyone know where I can find replacement clips for cheaper than $200?

Thanks

Email sent! I hope they come back with a more resonable price. I also emailed Mini of Sterling (Ohio) as backup.

I had the same problem and went to WESCO auto body supply here in seattle. I showed them one of the clips and they ordered a few boxes of what looked similar for $6 a box. They then let me try them out and buy the box that fit the best. None were perfect, but I bought ones that were a hair big and trimed them with snips, worked great. Even now though, I still have a hard time getting the arches on and staying on. Not because of the clips so much though, just because it is really hard and a tight squeeze to do so.

So check your local auto body supply store for help.

Thanks A Lot!

Twister you are a GOD among MINIs. I talked with Paul over at Classic MINI and he got me ALL the clips I need for about $30 with shipping. Hmmmm lets see, I just saved $200 dollars on clips...what can I buy now for the MINI seeing as the wife already approved the $230 for the clips from the local MINI shop. Can you say swaybar?

Minitor: I was going to go that route this weekend but fortunately Paul at Classic MINI came through. I would suggest giving him a call.

Thanks again guys

Thanks, do you have a number for Paul. I tried calling the main Classic number (I think) and got Chevy parts, and then the voicemail for some guy named Steve?

How about a small present for TWISTER? Say a tank full of 93+ octane?

I used the number listed by Twister in post #2 (440.205.6404). Perhaps the answering machine used to belong to someone who worked for Chevy???? But you can also try 440-266-6700 which is their main number according to MINI USA.

Twister: Next time I'm in your area I'll buy you a full tank of +93 octane. I appreciate the help.

Had same problem.Found close match, put a dab of clear cauking under head let set overnight, holds great is flexable and can be peeled off at later date if you find a deal on factory clips.

Cool, I got through but didnt have a part number so he sent me a diagram of parts. Did you get this? I am guessing it is the #10 clip? Do you remember how many? Thanks.

Yeah I ordered the twenty of the #10 clips, which gave me a few extras. For the arches that attach to the hood you need 3 per side and for the arches next to the front wheels (item #2 in the diagram) you need 4 per side for a total of 14 clips all together. Hope that helps.
