sorry read through all of the show notes and no dice. I'm sure someone on NAM has the proceedure, I don't have Nav so didn't pay attention when I heard it. Have you tried doing a seach? And do I understand correctly it has to do with the dvd being stuck in/out? I think it may be something like leaving windows down, car off some other condition and it will eject? Like I said I didn't really listen hope this helps.

Ugh....

Try this....

Put the update CD in and wait.... It should take a min or two for it to try and update. If that does not work, turn the car off and disconnect the battery for a few minuets. The NAV unit stays on all the time, so by doing this, you force the system to boot up once you reconnect the battery.

If this does not work, you may have toasted your firmware. These updates are the same as doing a BIOS update on a computer. If you kill it in the middle of the update, it may not have the instruction set to actually boot the machine. Sorry, but you may have to get it replaced. A costly mistake.

I feel for you there. If you get a chance to disconnect the battery, let it sit for about five to ten mins before you try again. This way you are sure it is starting from the beginning.

Yes, but it is done at the factory. So, you have a brick in your hands.

First of all, I'm sorry for your trouble... it's a crappy situation to be in.

This is exactly what I expected when I glanced through this thread earlier... you effectively fried the BIOS/firmware in your Nav by powering it down in the middle of the update... something that the update very clearly tells you to not to do: "Remark: This can take up to 6 Minutes. Do not turn off ignition during installation!"

Now, we all know it was a mistake... but a very costly one. Next time you might not want to have your keys attached to your pants while you're doing it!

As for the DVD/CD unit differences, the DVD one contains the entire USA & Canada on one disc. Also, it operates faster, and contains additional info like restaurants, gas stations, libraries, parks, etc.

you might want to just bring it in and see what the dealer says. Tell them you turned it on and it was just like that. I would not say anything about you updating it or anything like that!
