Subwoofer location

I did a search, and didn't come up w/ much.
So what are the best locations for a sub.
I have the standard radio and need some more bass.
Don't want to waste much of the boot.
Can an install be done under the front seat?
Anywhere else???

JL Audio makes a nice sub "Stealthbox" for the Mini. Comes with the sub already in it, and takes up about 3/4 of a cubic foot in the boot, with matching carpet. Tis pricey though, ~ $500.

Sub under the front seat? I think there's far too much stuff, and not enough clearance... And it would rattle (and may damage) the nether regions, eh?

Some people have pulled out the 6x9's in the rear sides and installed various sizes of subs there... I think GBMini did it in one of his Minis. Not sure, you'd have to search his blog.

I plan on building a custom fake floor & sub box out of 3/4" MDF for my install. Maintain use of most of the boot, as amps will go under floor, and sub will go in a wedge box. Don't know when I'll get around to it tho, but will post pics when I do.

Good luck.

Look here for ideas, though some are extreme (like mine).

I had this custom built. When you fold down the seats it's flush so you have a large flat space for hauling stuff. Amp's under my pasenger seat. A few more pics at http://www.simplygriff.com/MINIstereo.html

Simply Griff, I like how functional that is. Takes up very little space, durable, and looks good

Thanks a lot. Those were the exact criteria I gave my stereo guy. That and I wanted it to BUMP!

Edit: It's also fully removable with quick disconnects. It does weigh roughly 35-50 pounds though...

I'm just a little worried what's gonna happen when I lower it... My new tires already rub a bit over deep bumps...
