R50/53 Back in the gang: Newbie again!
Back in the gang: Newbie again!
Well, after having traded in my old '03 MCS for an STi, I ended up trading that in for a 92x! Why? Too much $ for insurance and really high theft rate in my area! Although the STi was a whole different animal, the 92x didn't have nearly the same fun factor - and I was still paying a crap load for insurance!
So, while driving MINI's around at work, I realized how much I missed having fun with one - while saving some cash too!
Anyways, I finally picked up my new '06 DS/S MCS this week, so I'm officially a Newbie all over again!

Welcome back.....a wise man once said "you don't know what you've got till it's gone". I'm a fan of Subaru's too. I almost bought a Saabaru 92x, but two things made me stop, 1- the seats killed me & 2- the motor while it has power if kept on the boil was just dead in normal driving. No torque down low where one needs it. Well I bought a Forester XT & it's been a great car. Heck it even has torque. It's my foul weather/dirt road running car. But my MINI it's just like a go-kart for grown ups.
I just love that torque down low where you need it & its ability to rev, & oh yes.... it will run rings around most other cars.
Sorry kind of got carried away. Welcome back.

francisk, now I know I'm not the only one to make this switch!
I've already had some buddies question it, but then again they're Subie guys!
Crashton, I know what you mean with the XT. It's got great power/torque yet perfect for an all around vehicle that you can take on road trips (i.e. snowboarding, kayaking
). There's still plenty of Subie's constantly around me - my GF's brother and mom have XT's, her aunt has a Forester, one cousin has a WRX and his brother has an Impreza, and my buddy upstairs has a WRX wagon!
Scuderia, having now owned both an STi and a MCS I can say this - yes the STi has the extra power, doors and AWD, but the amount of fun I had with mine still didn't compare to the fun I've had in a MINI! I'm glad to see you stayed in yours!
