Has anyone painted the side vent grills?

New to the forum with an '02 MCS DS, i think thats right.

I tinted the side reflector lights last night and replaced the side marker lens to the black ones. I want to take out the side cents and paint the stock chrome ones black and leave the red S.

Has anyone out there done this? And what is the best way to paint these?

Thanks...
Aero Grill and lower M7 grill to come.

FYI, there are none on eBay right now, but I see them on there regularly, exactly as you're describing - glossy black with red S.

Has anyone painted them to match the color of the car? How about color-matching them and leaving the red S? I think I may try the latter...

I got them off of a Cooper owner who wanted the MCS grills. So even swap....

But I've seen it here in the marketplace before....and yeah, I don't think it's that expensive anyways to go to your dealer.

It turns out, you can order the S for the side marker grills in about 30 different colors.

I did the rear badge too, which looks good - it reduces the visual impact of the red.
https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...2&d=1131827375

I did it the cheap way instead of the $15 vinyl sticker. I had the touch-up paint kit, so I just removed the red sticker from the badges, cleaned up the adhesive with alcohol, and used the touch-up paintbrush. A final coat of clear-coat gave it nice depth to match the body.

I think that this might look particularly good with a dull color, such as Dark Silver.

They are only about $9 each from your dealer. . . 20% off if you order from Classic MINI. . .
