Rear Control arms - Helix vs H-Sport

I am in need of the control arms and want to hear from both parties or someone that has experience with both. I recently witnessed the failure of the HSport bushings that had been installed on a spec racer. Albeit the tech stated that the part wasn't installed properly (wasn't aligned correctly) but that also leads to the obvious, if the two perform similarly and one is easier and cheapier to install that would be the better of the two.

Fire away o'knowledge ones.........

What about the Webb Motor Sport control arms? I’m thinking of getting these with heim joints. My question is will hein joints make for a very harsh and noisy ride as opposed to rubber bushings? I know they will be more noisy than rubber but has anyone used heim joints on the control arms and regretted it?

Send a PM to Onasled. He has the Alta arms with Heim joints. I have the H-sport and have not had a problem with bushings, 27 trackdays in 2 summers. Early H-sport of 2 yrs. plus had a bushing problem. Which nas been corrected from what I understand.

i used a set of Moss Heim Jointed sway bar end links on a miata once....way too harsh for the street, IMHO. And that way just for the sway bar, i would think that the control arms might transfer even more harshness. Slightly off topic, but it might help some.....

I do use the Alta control arms with Hiem joints. I highly recommend them as they truly improved my track performance. The only downfall, which is not even an issue with me, is that they transfer tire to pavement noise to the interior of the car. It's not bad, but this is what the rubber bushing do is isolate that road noise. The control arms themselves are very quiet and I personaly felt no over harshness with them.
I've heard of MANY bushing failures with the H-sports, though they do replace them for free I hear.

Agree with Greg

Adis daddy,

My experience with the Alta rear control arms and evaluation of the reports of problems from the alternatives is exactly as Greg (onasled) quotes. My MINI is tuned for the track, although I enjoy driving it on the street. If you want trouble free suspension performance as a primary goal then the heim joint arms is a good way to go. If you want something else as a primary goal, then pick an alternative. The noise is detectable but not objectionable to me.

Happy Holidays,

Will have to look closer at each one. I have a friend that had to replace the HSport on his spec racer and now is running the Helix. Will see what he thinks as well. Thanks.

My car is at Helix as I type, getting lower control arms amongst other toys. Eric stated that the Helix arms have bushings that are not "weather proof", and he therefore recommended that I go with H-sport, being that I live and drive in the salt encrusted Northeast winter roads. The Helix arms are less costly however, and I'm told perform admirably. If you're just at the track, why not try Helix? If you're on the street, and live in the northeast, where salt is used liberally on the roads, it is apparently smart to go with H-sport.

heim joint protection

there are older posts here and on mini2 describing at least 2 styles of rubber booties you can get to cover the heim joints, which are more susceptible to wear from road grit.
