LOL - Open Letter to Honda / Ricer Owners

I am so tired of the ricers trying to entice me into a race at every light. If I wanted a fast car I would have bought a Porsche or EVO. But every moron in their big winged, coffee can exhaust, vacuum cleaner accessory looking bodykit Honda wants to race me anyway. The only time I even acknowledge them is when I know there is a speed trap ahead. I rev my engine, take off a little quickly, slow down right away, and let the moron ricer get a ticket while trying to show off. It has worked twice so far! Anyway, here is a related post I found on the Craiglist that I thought was funny:

That was always my MOVE in my motorcycles. Launch until you get right about the speed limit and then shut down. They go flying past into whatever is waiting for them. One time got this Porsche going and he didn't even notice the toll booth until it was too late, had to blow right throught it, heh, heh, heh, FUN STUFF.

It will never end

Rick,

I get the same frustrations too . But there is nothing you can do about it. And I'm suprised you are not used to it. Especially since you are driving a Mini. It does not matter if you have an S or CVT, idiots want to see what it can do and so they challenge you. THE only thing you can fix is your own perspective. And you'll never be bothered again.. And I'm sure you can do that.

Sure most Ricers are pretty comical looking with the junk on them. But not all morons are Ricers. Dont forget to include the idiots in Mustangs, Camoros, Pontiacs, and lowered SUVs. And most ricers are good people with different tastes but real car enthusiats.

The other day I was going down the expressway testing my Mini vs a Jetta (modded VR6). His car had a lot of crap on it. He had nothing on me, but what was cool is we both gave each other the thumbs up at the stop light. Now thats real respect from true enthusiasts. You should look for it and not assume.

Anyway ... be safe and give peace a chance - LOL

True, HOWEVER, I had a fellow in an old Dodge Caravan (blue smoke, faded paint on panels that didn't match anyway!) want to race me the other day.

He... uh...."won" - he needed the boost to his ego.

great find But like the duckling said, it is all about the person behind the wheel rather then the car itself.

I found it both funny, and annoying..

It too was full of insulting assumptions about how others behave. While we've all had experiences like this (some on the wrong side of the "argument"), it didn't need to make all the insults it did. If it hadn't, it would have been even funnier!

Funny, he's pissed at ricers trying to race him. I've only had SUV's try me (oh, and that guy with an auto-box C6 Corvette ).

I for one do not like the term "ricer". I find it to be very offensive. Not all import owners are like the rest! I have several friends with, acura's, Nissans, Mitsubishi's that could all beat the MINI. We are all car enthusiasts, just of a different sort.

That'd be a speeding ticket for the other guy and an exhibition of speed (or competitive speeding) for both. You see, around here, you don't have to actually speed to get a ticket. You just have to look fast.

Is there any wonder why I have no respect for the law?

Ricer is a term for 'those' types of people whom lack maturity/responsibility for their sport vehicle, not all import owners or tuners.

I know many great import owners, with some standard spec, and nicely modded rides. I wouldn't consider them ricers though. If they got carbon fiber door handles, and one of those fake double-sided tape hood scoops, then I may have to move them closer to that R category.

nicely said... that said.. absolutely nothing wrong with making your car 'your own'... its when i think the person thinks a giant aluminum surf board wing in the back makes the car go faster then that's when its a ricer... not everyone is gonna go to the track, not everyone want to mess with their warranty.... as long as the person doing the visual mods knows that they do nothing to aid the car going fast.. that to me is alright...

Don't EVEN get me started re: ricers and drag racers. I have two cars that TOTAL 295hp. After owning and tracking the hell out of an E46 M3 and a 996 C4S, I am really enjoying having two classic low-horsepower cars that are light and nimble, one an older classic, one a new instant classic. These cars are all about handling and the joy of feeling the road, regardless of speed.

I forwarded the open letter to friends, it cracked me up.

I don't see how anyone here is any better. Sorry.

I mean, how many folks are there on this board who talk about having "blown away" some guy with their modified Minis? How many twincharged members have crowed about their relatively slow 12 second cars racing Vettes and Vipers or whatever?

Not to mention, how many members here have chrome or carbon fiber all over their car, or have blinged out their interiors?

I love how people try to make fun of "ricers" when people post here about getting a new carbon fiber hood scoop or a new areo bodykit and everyone's like "Ooooohhh that's awesome!". Oh wait, I get it, those are "tasteful" mods, right? Nothing ricey about a carbon fiber hood scoop! Nooooo, not at all!

Mini owners are just as bad as all other car enthusiasts. Live with it.

Refer back to Wagn's definition

types of people whom lack maturity/responsibility for their sport vehicle,

Kind of makes sense. I doubt anyone believes there aren't the same kind of people owning all makes ... including Ferraris.

coopersigma,

hear hear. I'm surprised this thread has lasted as long as it has what with the site guildlines concerning street racing of any kind. Take your car to the track if you want to find out how fast it really is.

I agree, definitely.

I think it's just some smug BS on Rick's part to make this post like he's making some winning, new information point. People on the internet have been hating on people who modify their car with nothing but "looks" parts for years.

I just find it really hypocritical to post this here on a Mini forum where most people have put as much (if not more) of their mod money into appearance mods over performance mods. Chrome interior? Rice. Chrome/Carbon Fiber trim? Rice. Body-kit, aftermarket wing? Rice. Body-colored shift ****? Rice. Aftermarket wheels? Rice. Buying an aftermarket exhaust for how the tips look on the car. Rice. I could go on, but I think I proved my point.

People need to let this "Yeah, dumb ricers lol!" bandwagon nonsense go already.

You mean you're waiting for this?

And lo, the skies did turn a coal gray. The heavens crack'd with light as the Hand of Mod descendeth. The people of Nam quaked in fear as Mod did destroy the thread which containeth the evil spectre of Street Racing. Now order is restoreth to the land, and the People of Nam are saved.

(I saved that to a word file for just this sort of situation. )
