Installs in Bham or close to GA

I already posted this in the SC forums so I figured I would try the other direction too. I am just really desperate here. :impatient that is me freaking out

Preface: I have already put out a feeler for this service on the Atlanta boards but time is so tight on this that I am trying to be sure I have a backup plan if no one here can make it on such amazingly short notice.

I have a 2004 MCS that has an Alta CAI and H-Sport rear sway on it, long story short, I have to have this car returned to stock and turned into the dealership in the next 2-3 days... basically this has to be done this weekend.

I do not have the stock parts. So if you do installs and have some otherwise useless bits laying around, I would love to take them off your hands and get them on my car.

The dealership wants about $500-$600 to do all this work and I have nowhere near that kind of cash laying around. This has been a strange situation with my 04 (which is being replaced by an 06) and I didn't have time to save up, gather parts and schedule the de-installs. Plus I just got back from a huge vacation and enjoyed it a lot, mentally and financially... like I said.. I didn't realize this work was going to be required so quickly.

If you can do this work this weekend, let me know and let me know what kind of payment you would like... I can pay some, of course, but not $600.. that's just insane. I will be glad to assist and provide pizza, beer, whatever... and of course, I do all the driving. I just have to get this done really fast.

And of course I'll tell you the whole story behind why this short notice is happening.

Thanks!

I have a possible idea. I will need to contact my local friendly mechanic here in Birmingham, but I have a stock airbox and my MCS has the stock sway bar.

I could trade my stock airbox for your sway bar (already have an intake), and we could probably have the swaybars switched over for a pretty good price.

I can put the stock airbox in myself and we just need to have access to my mechanic's lift to do the sway bar switch. .

Let me make a call first thing in the morning to see if we can get the lift for Saturday morning. . .

PM me for phone number, etc. . .

I'm not sure I follow.... trade stock parts for my aftermarket parts? Or trade sway bar for work?

My aftermarket parts are going on my 06 MINI.... well... unless it's the only way I can get it done. Part in trade for labor isn't a bad idea, cause I could just buy a new sway bar for the 06.

intake: I have stock airbox and filter in a box in my garage so I don't need or want your intake.

The stock swaybar I have is currently on my MINI. If I gave it to you, I'd have no swaybar unless I ended up with your's.

So the trade is my stock swaybar and stock airbox for your swaybar. You pay labor for my mechanic to switch the swaybars. .. .

and it all depends on if my mechanic can help us on Saturday morn. . . .

It's an H-Sport Comp rear sway that retails for what... $240 or something?

If we could split that labor a little bit or do the work ourselves, we can work this out. (I'm an accountant so my math is going $125 + $240 for stock parts and labor... hmmm.....gotta work on one side of that a little.)

I'll even order us some pizza, drinks, whatever.

Bob, that is great. . . would make it possible to do it without Stephen's lift. . . and not have to pay labor. . .

Jenn, sounds like if we do it at Bob's it might just cost you gas money and pizza/beer. . .. .

Andrew, I've replaced two sways in the past month using jack stands. They work fine.

JennB, does your Alta use the stock tube that runs to the throttle body? I know the Alta that we swapped out we replaced that tube and also removed the rear panel. Will these parts be needed as well?

Jenn,

Sorry, as I think about it, I'd rather just keep my stock parts since I might want/need to go back to stock someday when I sell my MINI. If I buy my own swaybar then I'll still have all my stock parts and that is probably better for me in the long run. . .

Good luck though and I hope you get it all sorted out. .

Oh... and my idea situation is to just swap the parts from my 06 to my 04... so if my local contact comes through in time, that is what I will do... but of course I am not counting on that 100% because of the short notice and for all I know, he could be out of town or just too bust right now.

Edit.. just saw your post. I have someone here willing to give me a stock sway bar for free. If any one else has an extra air box, I would still be willing to pay someone to put the stock parts on my car and I just keep my aftermarkets.
