Unichip's Josh custom tune in Atlanta

I can not say enough good things about Josh at Unichip. We have been corresponding for several months about my car and the need for a "tune." In the interest of brevity ..... I got an email from Josh saying that he had to be in Atlanta to do a tune on a 350Z for a magazine article and would have time Friday morning to tune my car....in Atlanta. You have to be kidding....this is the guy with the most experience in the country on the Unichip and he was offering to tune my car...... I immediately cleared the calander for Friday and we arranged that I would pick him up at the airport at 7 PM. Josh is 29 (I have daughter 30) and the kind of guy that you like immmediately. He rides bikes, competes at the highest level in paintball, and knows cars. We went to dinner and agreed that I would pick him up in the morning. The following morning we did the tune on I-20 between Carrolton GA and the AL line........all dynamically while driving. THis took about an hour or so. The car is running at least 15% stronger and is smoother and more powerful at all RPM than ever. Josh did an amazing job. This post could be a lot longer ....... I hung out and watched some of the tuning on the "Z".......we ate another meal together and I got some education on what makes these cars "tick." I thanked Josh profusely and all is good. It just doesn't get any better way above the call of ANY duty.

Bottom line....consider the Unichip......great people, service, performance.

Thanks again Josh

Great experience Spider. In my dealings with UNICHIP, I've been treated exceptionally well (though not quite up to your level- ). I think that there is an exceptionally well prepared and knowledgable bunch down at UNICHIP. May they keep up the good work, and we 'll keep praising their efforts.

Nice to hear Bob. I needed to communicate with UNIChip a couple of times shortly after I got mine, and they were extremely responsive, courteous and professional. I dealt with Jack, I believe the founder...

I thought most of their tunes were done on their unique dynos that mate-up to the hub (wheel/tire removed)... I would think that there are benefits to the driving tune job you received though. Glad your MCS has you happy. I recall times when that wasn't exactly so...

Any chance of Josh coming to CA anytime soon?

I am very happy with my car and have been for a while.....Peter at M7 knows why but I am sworn to secrecy. I would call Josh and ask him....I know he travels a lot for paint ball and doing tunes........maybe he can do "pully party" kind of events in conjunction with the Unichip dealers throughout the country....... there is no Unichip dealer in Atlanta. I don't want to speak for him or add to his work load or upset the dealer network but I will tell you he is a great guy and very knowledgeable.

Cincy has a UNICHIP rep who will do custom tunes. The name escapes me but they're on Madison road below O'Brianville. Check with the UNICHIP website to get the correct name and location.

Here they are:

GERMAN MOTORCARS
1609 Madison Road
CINCINNATI, Ohio 45206
513-861-6000

There is no Unichip tuner in Atlanta and I'm sure that Unichip wants their dealers to offer this service.....

Unichip it will be !

OK reading this thread just sealed the deal as to my choice for a ECU upgrade.

When you buy a unichip does it come with generic programing or do you give specifics and order that way ?
From what I can tell here there is still some tweaking to do. Is that always the case ?
And if that is the case what do you do if further performance upgrades are added to the car.

Thanks in advance for any info

Randy Webb has like a dozen maps for the most popular combo of mods. Simply let Randy know when you place your order what mods you have, or will have fairly soon, and it will come pre-mapped for those. A custom tune will likely refine it further as not all intakes, exhausts, etc are the same... as well as our MINI's...

Spider. I have a 06 MCS/with a Alta CAI and a 19% supercharger pulley. Its been a week or so since. I installed. I am getting a very bad hesitation/around 2000-3000. Say I am in 2nd gear let off a little then give it throttle, falls on its face, then it cleans up higher rpm's its just low to midrange. Is the 19% just overkill. before I did the mods the car never had this hesitation. I am going to bring it to the mini Dealer tommorow and have them scope it out maybe there might be a updaed ECU flash. I talk to alot of other guys who have a 19%. they don't experience any running complaints. If they say its related. i am going to remove the pulley. and reinstall the OEM. I can install the stock one back in place can't I? I wanted to go the Chipping route but its a little pricy I can't afford it @ this time.

don't they want like $700.00 for the unichip. Its piggyback system correct?

If you can get back to be ASAP maybe avoid a trip to Dealership.

thanks Guido:impatient

hmmm, thats weird.. could be a lean spot... there are many threads on the yoyo acceleration, etc.. unichip might solve it.. also, check out mth.. if you go with mth the V7 tuner file upgrade you'll see the lean spots go... the mth tuner file cost $300..

good luck

This is just my opinion, I would try a 15% with the stock software and see how you like it. Is this your dd or a second car?

You should bring your car by Steve's Auto Clinic to see what he thinks.
