This would make a great back for the shirts this year. All black with this being the back and the AMVIV III over the pocket area.

Teens @ AMVIV?

Just curious if the previous events have had "young people" attend? I have a 16 year old daughter who really wants to go. Is that appropriate?

Thanks!

Glad you asked, glad to give clarification

Here goes:
  • Having been to both prior AMVIV events, there have been children. Some of our own members have driven out with youths.
  • I am trying to get my wife to let my son out of school that Friday - it is the last day before spring break - so that he can go with. He is 11.
  • There are absolutely NO 'Adult' activities at all planned. Never are.
  • For those who needed 'Adult' activities in the past, I suppose they just went off by themselves and did what they had to. There was no talk, no whispers.
  • I myself stayed in casino hotels but never set foot in a casino either time. No time among the driving and other organized events.
  • Vegas seems to be kid friendly these days, but the sidewalks of Vegas are not, esp at night. That is what to look out for.
Frankly, I would enjoy my son's company more than being by myself the whole time. Perhaps you would too.

Hope this helps, hope you can go. This trip is a blast, but tiring. If yours is old enuf to drive...then that will be a big help.

Jonathan

Jonathan is 100% correct. There were a number of kids at both prior AMVIVs. When the focus of the weekend is on the cars and the drives, there's absolutely no reason to exclude the under 21 (or even under 10) crowd.

Bring the kids, have fun!

I had an email asking about dinner prices for kids - if they are also $35 a head. I'm going to call Palace Station tomorrow and ask them about that.

Kids @ AMVIV

Cool...looks like my kid gets to go She does have her permit...but let her drive "Spike" ... I don't think so

Thanks! A reduced dinner price for kids would be great, mine eats like a bird!

Bring the kids. There's lots for her to do in Vegas. The wife and I are thinking of going on this trip next year. We go to Vegas every year or two just to catch the shows. If your kid is into shows then there are some really good ones there. Cirque du Soleil,4 of them but don't take her to Zumanity. Blue Man Group. Some Broadway type shows like Mama Mia, We Will Rock You and things like that.

There's also an indoor skydiving place that's pretty cool that my wife and I hit once in a while when we visit Vegas. There's a Star Trek themed place at the Hilton if you're into Star Trek. The fashion mall if you want to do some shopping.

Just my two cents.

Does anyone have any idea how much the driving school will cost? I checked out the website and it only had the event in Vegas listed but no prices. It had the prices for the event prior to Vegas but it was $300 or so. Would it be fair to say that the driving school in Vegas would be the same amount?

Hope to see everyone there next year.

As for the cost of driving school

When I talked to Phil Wicks about having the school here in CO last year, the price was just that - $300 or right at that amount. It is a full event and lots of both classroom and track time. I would expect the same there.

Note that this year, there will be lots of going ons out at the track what with the vendors, etc there at the same time. That will cause a pull of all the MINIs out that way to that side of town I would guess.

But plan on that amount...

Since the driving school is a 1 day event (rather than the 2 day thing Phil usually does), we're hoping it's more in the $200-$250 range.
But the track will be the location for the Saturday Boot and Bonnet Show. Vendors, MINIs, the Poker Run...I hope everyone plans on coming to the track on Saturday. That and the dinner on Saturday night are the 2 things you REALLY don't want to miss.

I'm going to contact Palace Station today and ask about kids prices for the banquet. That's something we forgot to ask about earlier. I'll get back to you on it.

Agro.

I just talked to Palace. They say that kids can do the banquet for 1/2 price, but they consider kids as ages 3-11. I guess under 3 are not counted at all.

I'll update the website.

I also discovered that the Garden rooms are $65 a night for the Friday and Saturday nights, $59 for Thursday and Sunday.

Yes. We haven't set the itinerary in stone yet (that's why it hasn't been posted anywhere yet) but the current thinking is on the Saturday, after the Boot and Bonnet at the Speedway, before the banquet.

We just signed up. Since we live in the Springs, wondering if we could hook up with the caravan?

We'll be out there doing installs as well - though it isn't on the AMVIV site yet (Agro - hint, hint). We will also be running the race series (with three cars) and bring a number of products for display.

Here's the sign up.

I'd offer to join the caravan, but with the trailer, you don't want to be stuck behind me doing 65 and stopping for gas every 170 miles!

See you all there!
