Will the Pilo Racing header throw any codes?

Just wondering if deleting the cat will

1. Throw a code? (assume it will)
2. Send the car into any sort of "limp mode" or anything?

Is the header coupled to a CAT ? I hope it is

I washed my car today, popped the hood to "spray it off" and got water on the engine, Threw a code and went into limp mode !!!

I hope it goes away !!!

No codes from headers per se....

but if you drop the cat, you will get a code due to cat failure. That's what the second 02 sensor is there to detect. There are little modules that you can plug in to make the system "think" it's working. It fakes the heater load, and the output of the sensor that indicates clean air. This isn't allowable for street driving, and is actually a violation of federal smog equipment laws, but then so is adding a header.
I don't think the car goes to limp mode with a cat failure code.

Hope this helps...

Matt

I have seen the cat-delete interfaces on other cars, but do you know if anyone makes one for the Mini?

Swappable test pipe and/or cat with flanges would be optimal.

Yea, if you remove the cat you will get a code and the "Check engine" light will come on within 10 miles of driving it. It will not make the car run any different as the computer takes it's info from that first censer before the cat.
You will notice a difference though in performance without the cat.

Tell me about it. My other car is basically dead and while I'm looking for another, I'm driving the Mini on the road. Minimanis header, no cat, Miltek resonator into a 3" Flowmaster 40 series.
I'm sorry, did you say something?
I should take a photo of this actually as I come straight through and exit with a single 4" resonated tip through where the backup light was. Will be building a rear defuser this winter if I continue with this car.

Would a regular Milltek exhaust with OBX header and test pipe be that loud?

No, not that loud, but louder then with a cat. More raspy at higher revs.

OPtimally I''d like to be able to swap the cat or test pipe in and out at will. Is this a feasible solution if I got an OBX header? How accessible is the cat on this car? I installed my Milltek exhaust but I can't remember how accessible the leading edge of the cat is.

The Madness 2 Header can be had with both pipes ....

But it does fetch a high price, it might be THE ticket

BUT the optimal setup, according to George at Madness is the Borla street exhaust with the madness header, which would mean even more $$$$$

The attraction of the OBX one is hte possible $/hp ratio. $175 plus a straight pipe to swap in = $300 max.

Agreed,

BUT I haven't seen the answer to a pipe or CAT that is the one to add to the OBX to keep it quiet, for a daily driver

Pilo is about to release a V2 header with removable CAT and test pipe that will start around $250 with test pipe and obviously more once CAT is available. expect this to be THE price leader once it hits market.

If it allows the stock cat to be bolted in the consider one sold.

I assume that bolting the stock cat in is also an option?

no, hi-flow CAT replacement will be available though. stock CAT(s) are welded onto the stock header.
