I just heard from one of my pals in the February Club who took delivery of his MINI yesterday that the voice on the NAV system no longer has a British accent!

Anyone else with an '03 build who took delivery recently notice this change?

I was really hoping for my Wendolene to talk back to me in her appropriate accent!

Count me in, Tony Maguire, as wanting this info. too. BVLGARI, my dear one, speaks English as a second language (French/Italian are the native tongues) and, of course, would have to have a British accent for the NAV system.
Please report your findings.

Wouldn't that then be a German accent?

Well, I guess she has German roots, but she was born in jolly 'ol England. Much like I come from Italian roots, but I am 100% American.

Well, I have a 03' MCS with Nav, Oct 25 build. But to my disapointment I still do not have my Nav cd. My dealer, Hank Aaron (Atlanta, Ga), has had it in for several weeks and I have called six times asking for it. Last night they said they shipped it last week, i don't know. The only reason I haven't just driven down to them is cause it is a 2.5 hour drive. As soon as I get it, I will update ya'll.

I don't have my CD yet, either but my October build MCS has a British accent on the volume control for the Nav system. I would assume it would stay the same with the CD in.

I'm supposed to get my CD tomorrow, but my MCS'03 (delivered 1/20/03) has either US or I think Spanish. The English option is gone. I was really bummed out, I thought the English accent would be neat. SORRY

That is dissapointing. I guess Spanish is prob more practical than French here but they could have kept Great Britian as the other option. Skalex and my car were built at about the same time. That's strange!!

Funny you bring this up, I have the answer for you. I took my car in for service and low and behold when I left I went to use the NAV system and my sexy briton, was replaced by an AMERICAN MAN!! I took my car back right away and was told that yes in fact this is the new voice on all new minis or anyone who gets their software upgraded. However, I was also told that it can be switched back. My MINI is still in service so we will see if it is switched back when I get it back tommorow.

Got ours yesterday. We got a non-accented woman. I'm hoping that the DVD will bring back the british accent; but we have already placed the inquiry with our dealer as to what to do.

Perhaps Mini will hear our crys.

My '03 is a Sept. 02 build and I have the British Female. I love it. Makes those cold, lonely nights much easier!

Hopefully this will help you guys with the american accent voice problem:

Mini2

Check towards the middle of the thread for a post by Woodman438:

"So to overcome the welcome screen, emergency option, american voice, etc.... there are 2 options!

The traditional way:

Go to your dealer... beg nicely - ask them to hook you car up to their programming module and reset the country code of the Sat Nav to 44 (UK). This will disable the warning screen (if you have it) and also sort out the voice problem. "
