Just ordered my new Space Blue MiniS with silver roof, premium, sport, and winter packages. Sooooo excited. However, the Mini dealer (Mini of Peabody MA) said that you cant get the new style silver bonnet stripe till the October build that would put the car too far out for me (I dont own I car currently so with my job change I need car by October 10th not November ).

Anyway, to get the stripes I have to wait till dealer install in Novemberish time frame . And I will have to pay dealer install price. Kind of bugs me that Mini doesnt have all the 2006 stuff ready to go. Seems kind of stupid to me. Has anyone else experienced this??

 

You could go with and aftermarket stripe set-up.

Might be a bit cheaper from what I've read.
But I do see your frustration

I could not wait either, but my dealer said he would do the silver stripes at the factory price of $100.

 

My 2006 MCS is Space Blue with Silver roof and stripe, and current status is it is in production and will be completed 9/18, so your dealer is not telling you what I am experiencing - assuming the car is actually where MINI says it is in the production process.

If you need the car in October but it won't arrive til November, why not rent a car for a month? Money well spent to get what you want, IMHO.
