Ultrik/K&N CAI...

New to this site but I've searched around and haven't seen anything so far on the pros and cons of this particular product. (see link below).

I have it and like it, BUT I wish there was a firewall modification similar to the Alta setup. If I ever get some free time I am going to take my firewall out and take a drill to it.

I've got the Ultrik CAI and have had no problems with it at all. I removed the plastic barrier behind the intake and cut a 6" by 4" hole in the plastic piece and then reinstalled it. I know there is the potential for brake fluid to enter should a line burst but I am playing the probability game and betting on that not happening. I did, however, buy the silicone Alta intake hose which does improve flow and adds a bit of bling to the engine bay as a bonus. I have not had any other CAIs other than stock so I do not have anything to compare it to...all I know is that I am happy with the setup. It is a piece of cake to install so I wouldn't pay the dealer service fees if I were you.

It seems like there are a lot of folks on NAM that swear by ALTA products so I am sure they make a quality CAI (and other mods). Others prefer Madness, but I really do not hear a whole lot of rumbling w.r.t. MiniMania products. Probably because they are expensive compared to the rest of the tuner world. Shop around before you buy...

Cheers

for the $ there are better alternatives. Someone has already referenced ALTA, another would be mymini (does not offer tube option like alta)
