Where did the color go?

Does anyone else think that the MINI color range has gone dull for 2006?

With the demise of Electric Blue and now Liquid Yellow, the spectrum is beginning to look like my grandfather's Oldsmobile dealership from years ago.

Where are all the fun colors? Are they dulling down the MINI to bring out shockingly fun colors for the new 2007 model?

C'mon MINI, dazzle us with some color!

...the above are for suggestive purposes only...

The "color" I'll miss the most is Jet Black. which is a complete lack of color!

Well, ah, actually (he said, adjusting his pocket protector) white would be a complete lack of color. Black would be the combination of all colors. (end of geekish correction)

I would buy an alpine white with black roof in a second....even if it is one of those ugly 07's . Non-mettalic gray would be nice too depending on the shade.

Actually, the new Solar Red Metallic paint is similar to "candy Apple red". It looks fantastic.

But I tend to agree that the color pallette, specially for the MCS, has made a turn for the dull. How many shades of blue and grey does one car really need?

I was never really into Electric Blue, but now that it has been axed, I miss it a lot. Ditto for LY in the MCS.

Mopar Colors

I would go for a SubLime Green non-Metalic, Shocking Pink non-metalic.

BMW/MINI needs to offer more Non-Metalics or offer Metalic paint at the same cost as non Metalics.

I like that Orange/White combination. Reminds me of the Dreamsickles of my youth.

Artic White metalic would be cool. Just get it from the same supplier that Cadilac does!

School Bus Yellow is actually called Chrome Yellow. Makes no sense to me!

MINI could also be the first manufacturer to offer color changing paint. Dupont Chromalusion... A $20K Mini with a $25K paint job!

Those MINI images are great....where are they from?

I also would like to see soem more color...a good orange would be great on an MCS.

Also, why is there no True BRG? The metalic green is nice, but I would be all over a True BRG in a heartbeat.....

I agree, the new MCS colors (the new blue and gray/brown) are not exciting/fun and as in character with the car as the colors they are replacing.

I agree w/ both of these. My favorite classic Mini color is Island Blue (a light blue)...it looks great w/ white roof.

While I'm not sure I agree that Solar Red looks like Candy Apple Red - I think that Solar Red is darker - I do think it will look fantastic!

Oh, and I'll throw out a hearty

Aiiee!!

out there as well.

Orange is my new favorite color (and will be added to my new MINI). I have wanted an Orange MINI for a few years now - nothing against Hot Orange, but how 'bout some reg'lar 'ole orange?

Of the current colors, I wanted to see Hot Orange offered on the hardtop MINIs for '06. No such luck, so I'm getting Solar Red.

Thinking about it more, I also think that Solar Red will have the same brighter/darker characteristic that a BRG has in sunlight vs. shade. So, when it is brighter, it may be more similar to Candy Apple Red.

DiD, excellent choice

May I suggest you ordering the new Piano dashboard? It looks terrific on a SR Cooper.

If we were to order a new Cooper today, this is the most likely color choice. It reminds me of the now gone velvet Red metallic, but much lighter.

Yes is it. Actually Solar Red reminds me of the Honda Candy Apple red offered in Civic Hatchbacks of the 1990's. I always loved that color.

SR with Silver roof and Piano dash...SEXY!

Nope...Island Blue. It is a more classic color, but I love it. A medium light blue.

Taihiti Blue is nice, too, but much more vibrant....maybe more appropriate for the present discussion.

Almond Green in another favorite classic Mini color....a medium green, muted just slightly.

I second all of the above. I would love to see a good orange. Something like the General Lee. But with the UJ of course . Someone should send a copy of the palette to BMW.
