Eat and Run, Saturday, August 6

Just a reminder to everyone about this Saturday, August 6. Meet at Colonade at 4:00 p.m. We can either eat at Johnny Rays BBQ or at the new pub recently built, and then depart for a run across Pump House Rd to Rex Lake Rd to Leeds, through Leeds to Hwy 25 to Vincent, then back across 25 to Leeds, to 119, to Hwy 280 and Hamburger Heaven. If everyone wants to eat after the run, then majority vote decides. This Saturday is also the meetup day for the British Sports Car Club at Hamburger Heaven, which starts at 6 p.m. If you can't make the "Eat and Run", then stop by for the meet. It would be good to see some we haven't see in a while and meet those we've never met. There is no obligation to come and stay if you need to be somewhere else. See you all Saturday and Happy Motoring. Harold

DIRECTIONS TO COLONADE: I-65 to I-459 North(Gadsden/Chattanooga) to Hwy 280 exit. Stay in the right lane and exit 280 at first right, S-surve to traffic light, left turn to second left turn, look for other MINIs.

Rex lake and sicard hollow road are both excellent. Rex lake road becomes sicard hollow at the four way intersection of grants mill. I personally like the sicard hollow section of the road better because it is a little longer and twistier. Unless I am confused, and we are already doing so, would it be a bit smoother to go from the colonade directly to sicard hollow, (which becomes) rex lake, then so on and so forth, and then come back 119?

From the colonade, you head out right, go under 280, and take a right at the waterworks.

yep, that's the route to Leeds, then to Hwy 25 to vincent vicinity, then back to Leeds to 119 then to 280 Hamburger Heaven.

Thanks to all the pilots (we were flying low) and navigators of the 11 MINIs (18 people) who made it out to the eat and run, or in our case run and eat. It was fun through the twisties of St Clair and Shelby counties, and then eating together at Lloyds on 280. We will have to see what we can do for September. Any Ideas?

Golfman got a new CAI and now he drives fast. At the back of the pack we were topping speeds of 70mph on the curvy roads. I loved every minute of it . Thanks.

That was an awsome day today; I had a lot of fun. Those are really good pictures. My co-driver, chris, took a bunch of pictures, as well as during the run, and as soon as i get them from him I well post them.
