Pete is water logged!

I'd been having some strange electrical problems like the brake light staying on and my driving lights not working. I didn't worry alot until the "EP" came on the transmission display. I took "Pete" to DR yesterday, and after some looking around they found 6 inches of water under the floorboard!
Don't ask me how! They said either the sunroof or the air conditioning system, but still had to investigate. I can't believe I couldn't hear that sloshing around. So while I wait for Pete to dry out, I'm driving some little Chevy shoe box car!

Me again. One of the other guys on my team is actually working on "Pete". Looks like he's got it mostly dried out, now we are just going through all the wiring to make sure nothing is permenently damaged. We acutally had a gentlemen from Ohio stop by today because his brake lights where staying on too. We explained the situation to him, but he just asked us to vac out the carpet, and fix the drain, and he would take to his normal dealership to have them get it all fixed up.

Fun we keep referring to this car as the "IU Grad-mobile"....

BTW, he did find it was the sunroof drain that was leaking, and it's been fixed already.

Kaneda13-
Thanks for the update! My MA, Rob called today, but I didn't get to talk to him about all the details. I can't believe a sunroof drain could take in that much water! Of course everyone at work tells me that there is no place in a Mini to hold that much water.

MINI_CAR - New car...DR is good, but not sure they are that good! The loaner is nice, but I miss my auto dimming rear view mirror. Never realized how nice it was! Hopefully "Pete" will be back home the middle of next week!

If you open the sun roof and look at the outside front corners, you can see where the drains run down the A-pillars. the whole sunroof cassette is angled so that any water that makes it between the glass and the metal roof will run down either the left or right side drains. the drains actually exit the car right behind the front wheels. If you ever notice water on the floor board, about 90% of the time, the cassette drains are the problem. I do beleave he said it was starting to go back together on monday, he was helping me with a JCW kit on friday, so that slowed him down a bit. If you give Rob a call in the middle of the day on monday, i'm sure he can give you a better time frame than i can, since i'm not the one working that ticket. We will get "Pete" dried out and put back together like new for you.....
