Drivetrain Bigger injectors on 15% pulley
Bigger injectors on 15% pulley
Hi motorers,
I'm currently in the market for bigger injectors (JCW or Bosch).
I don't want to go with 19% pulley.
With an updated ECU to match those bigger injectors (MTH), would it worth the $$ for bigger injectors? Would I see a difference?
Thanks for the help!

I dont think that is the best place to spend your $$ Untill you at least do a head or cam or bigger pulley ( smaller diameter bigger % ) or bigger crank pulley I really dont think you will see any benefit from them.
I have 380's on mine and really didnt see any difference and I do have a head, cam etc. we dynoed 209whp and saw no sign that there we needed more fuel, for that matter we were pulling back fuel. ( with stock injectors ) I have the bigger ones now and have also added a 3% crank pulley but havent had a chance to dyno it yet.

Straight from Garret, you will at least double your gain that the chip normally gives, for example, Garret states a true hP increase of at least 8hp with its chip, so look for a minimal 8-10 MORE HP with the injectors. I am installing my injectors this week, and will let you know exactly what the difference is. BTW I only paid $260 something for the JCW injectors as I went in with the JCW intake kit with someone else on NAM and saved $200...
W/O the injectors and my mods I am right at 209 HP (189 WHP), I expect to touch 220 HP (197-199 WHP) with the injectors.

If all that is the case I should easilly clear 225whp ( close to 250 ? ) , I am at 209whp now ( 229hp based on your calculation method )
I have the JCW injectors
With mild mods and MTH. I too was surprised at the change in low and mid range response and torque. I agree that this doesn't make sense because larger injectors should only help at the top end. Butt dyno says it makes a difference.

Yes dyno proven numbers. When I get a chance I will scan and post, but not likely until after I install the injectors tonight or tomorrow.
The injectors are proven on the dyno by Helix I believe.

If you see 8whp from th einjectors alone I will be blown away, as well as happy for you.
I need to get mine back on the dyno for a final tune.
Good luck to you !

Thank you! I will let you know as soon as I get them on and dyno'ed.
Garret himself told me that on every vehicle he has chipped the injectors gave at least the 8hp on the 15% and more on the 17% and 19%.
I will keep you posted.

225whp = 247bhp using 12%
unless my math is bad again
Either way I look foreward to seeing what the injectors do for your car. Are teh injectors the only change since the last dyno pull ?
Edit...
I see you meant 209whp = 234bhp....got it.

Don't know duty cycle...

but if you can run rich through the full pull, then it's at less than 100%

GIAC for 15% and 380s on the way?
I too would like to go the 15%/380s route. I talked to guys at Webb and Euro Sytyles East and both said don't do it without an ECU change (I'm currently stock in that department). The guy from Webb said that GIAC will have a map for 15%/380s within the month (so look for it this Christmas).
Sounds promising, as I don't want a dragster, just smoooth power and a bit more low end pull. Until then MTH has a map for this combo. You might want to search the MTH thread and see what they say. I've read most of it and it sounds promising.

Happy customer, running JCW 380s and MTH.

But I threw a code tonight. I've got to scan it to see what's up. This has happened before, once MTH related. I sent the map in with the code problem and got a tweaked map back that fixed the problem. Not perfect, but pretty good for the $.

Thanks for the help!
I asked Chad from Detroit Tuned and he told me the gains would not be very noticeble.... He told me I should put my money on other mods before going on bigger injectors as the MCS already runs rich enough...
Thanks to NAM members and Detroit Tuned for the help!

anyone hear any more about this 15% and 380 map? I would be interested in this. This would enable one to change to a 15% pulley on the track and a 19% on the street. Its not that difficult to change belts.
correct, this is all i can add:
1.MPG did not drop, stayed the same. Honestly, if i am not mistaking the original injectors are 340cc, and 380cc, is not huge amount of jump
2.the car runs way too smoother than pre-injector-installation period (but on the other side i have the ECU upgrade).
Evidently, it does not add big hp gains, but i felt a little difference in performance. It is not necessary, but it sure does not hurt you, and if you go 17%, 19% pulleys, it is there.
Hop it helps.
thanks Dr. for the comploments

I have not done any other mods since the last Dyno Run.
