Graphic Installers

I want to get some vinyl graphics put on my Mini and I know that if I do it myself it will look like crap. So i was wondering if anyone knows of any good graphic installers in the chicagoland area.

Ed at Cooperflags.com recommended this installer:

Janus Pukszta
JPD Graphics
Elk Grove Village, IL
847-350-0414

Hope this helps...

Best Chicago area graphics

I’ll be picking up my new MC in the next couple months at Bill Jacobs and wondering if this is still the only “recommended” graphic installer in the Chicago area?

Another Chicagoland Graphics Installer

I was in Knauz this weekend having some gauges put on. The MA there, David Olenick, recommended to me that I try Ed at Advantage Auto Detail. 847-774-8740.

Apparently Ed has done many Mini's and actually comes to your office, home, etc to apply the graphics. Further, David said that Ed can print pictures to vinyl and so forth.

I have not used him or called him (but intend to), but perhaps this is helpful to those of you in Chicago.

Bootie stripes

So I ended up getting boot stripes and putting them on myself. The only thing harder than making sure they are centered was putting the cooper letters back on straight. I even left the R and the S on so I have something to follow, but damn that was hard. I had to get the level out and use that to make sure that it ended up straight. Oh and I also made a rubbing of the emblem to get the correct letter spacing. In the end it looks better than if I just cut the boot stripes around the emblem. I wish I would have taken a picture of my handy work before, but its too snowy and salty to do that now, maybe when it gets washed.

If you're anywhere near CLASSIC MINI in Mentor, Ohio, you might want to consider Mentor Signs for vinyl graphics. John Soulsby is the owner, and they both make and install all kinds of vinyl graphics. He does a lot of police cars, and recently did some Pepco box trucks where the whole side of the box van was graphic-ized. John's a car guy, so that helps too. He can be reached at 440-951-7446 and his shop is located on Tyler Boulevard in Mentor, about 3/4 of a mile west of CLASSIC MINI. If you mention my name, he'll give you a Club discount. Really nice, creative graphics, made and installed reasonably. Such a deal!

So it finally got warm enough to wash my car so here is a shot of it. I like the stripes but when i ordered them i didnt know that the white border goes all the way around the stripe. Sometime in the future i might get new ones that dont have the white border on the top and bottom. Oh yeah I also bought it from cooperflags.com.

I think they look great! Good symetry (sp)!

How did you deal with the Cooper S emblem; I assume you took it off and then put it on over the stripes, yes?

How easy was it to take the emblem off?

I used mint flavored dental floss to take the emblem off. However if I do it again I will be sure to wear heavy gloves because that floss can really cut into your fingers. The parts that took the longest were removing the old tape from the back of the letters and then putting on the new tape and cutting it to the shape of the letters, and then making they go on the car straight. But other than that easy as pie.

Thanks!

Was there a lot of glue on the car when the emblem was removed? If so, how did you get it off the car before applying the graphics?

Some Fantastic and elbow grease. I'm sure there are easier ways.
