Will they fix a scratch?

I just picked my MCSa up Friday evening. Saturday morning the service engine light came on and I was cleaning off a couple of spots of dried wax and found that one of them isn't wax....it's a small scratched spot above the driver's side quarter window. You guys think this is gonna be a hassle since I didn't see it before I left with the car? I'm gonna point out the scratch when I take it in for the SES light on Saturday.

I'd venture that they'd say no.

I just had my oil changed in mine and then the next day noticed a dent in the back of my car. I figured they didn't do it, but called to see if they noticed it, to try to figure out when I was hit. They were extremely defensive.

Of course, I'm sure they deal with people trying to blame things on them.

Can you figure out a reason they could have scratched your car? Like how it would have happened or something?

Between Friday night and Saturday morning? Hmmmm, they really should consider doing something about this. Dealers (some more than others) are notorious for half-prepping MINIs and even for installing free swirl marks. In addition, pick-up is such an overloading experience...most owners take additional time w/ their MINIs afterward and often notice something amiss. Your situation isn't that far-fetched...I'd definitely bring it up. Good luck!!

Thanks for the opinions....I work at a body shop so I could easily get it fixed myself, but hopefully they'll take care of it. And the SES light

IMO, if you think you know how to fix the scratch, then do it yourself

Don't let those clowns get near the car again.

I have learned to go over my car in detail after any visit to the dealer. After one of my more recent visits I saw a weird raised spot on my roof when picking up my car after a week at the dealer. They said that it was probably from bird droppings and I was very adament that I had never had bird droppings sit on my car and that this spot was quite noticable. Since I pointed this out prior to leaving the dealer, they will be repainting my roof since they can't get the spot out.

Remember to take care when picking up your car from the dealer. Take some time to go over it thoroughly, including looking at it at different angles. That way you won't be kicking yourself the next day

I've had all sorts of problems with my dealer, unfortunately noticed after picking up the car. They made good, or tried to, and just caused more problems. Ugh!! I don't expect the car to stay perfect, I just don't expect it to get damaged when being serviced. Do a check when dropping it off, there should be a valet who fills out a piece of paper with a diagram of a car. Then check it when you pick it up.
