Anywhere to order factory touch-up paint?

The title says it all. I would like to get some touch-up paint for my Mini, so that I can take care of chips as they occur...I already have 2 minor chips on my new car. I would rather NOT deal with the service dept. at my dealership because, as I found out just this morning, I am but a mere Mini owner... I am nowhere near BMW-Owner status and as such, I am treated as a nuisance and a waste of the service department's time. So, if I could order the paint from some place else, I would be thrilled. Anyone have any suggestions?

The official MINI touchup paint kit consists of a bottle of basecoat color and a second bottle of clearcoat. It retails for around $15-$18.

Try Classic MINI in Ohio. Thier parts department ships nationwide and they give NAM members a discount on parts purchases. Look them up in the Sponsors section.

Oh and after you fill those paint chips, consider installing a clearbra from VentureShield (www.accuguard.biz). the best money I have ever spent on my '05 MCS and no more worries about paint chips in the protected areas:

That's my MCS with the nearly invisible VentureShield clearbra film.

You have to face the fact that, unless you do something about your front end protection, your MINI's factory paint will continue to sustain damage from normal highway driving. The paint job is beautiful but it is TOO FRAGILE. Spend the $350-$500 for a new clearbra kit, or face having your paint job ruined by road stones and having to re-spray the entire front end every 2 years. Not an option for me.

Contact your nearest dealer by email or telephone, I am sure they would be happy to send you a touch up pen in the mail after you give them your credit card details.

Why shouldn't a dealer respond like any other web site when it comes to aftermarket items.

Girly, I hope you are not "stuck" with that one dealer as your only service option. There are good ones out there.

Niiiice Looking MCS, C4, that chrome grill is sure tempting.

Thanks!

I love the look of chrome in the MCS against the CR paintwork. It sure does turn heads.

Thanks for the replies everyone. I think I will e-mail Classic Mini about the paint. The chips are in, of all places, the passenger side of the car. Very very small, but as I am an obsessive car owner they stick out at me like a sore thumb. The clear bra was an option I initially opted for, but my car is black and I know the line on the hood would also annoy me, so I cancelled my order. Had I gone for Dark Silver, I probably would have bought the clear bra.
My anger isn't with my Mini dealer so much as it is with the BMW service department that services the cars from my dealership. They weren't going to let me have a rental car because they "don't rent to Mini customers", but I managed to shoot enough daggers from my eyes to the service advisor so that he would let me have a rental (a Toyota...no offense to Toyota owners, but ..I'm not even good enough to get the BMW rentals that were plentiful on the lot) and he told me to have my MA contact him so he can get the paperwork for her to approve it.
At least my Welcome kit came in the mail today.
I'm also going to order that blob eliminator from Langka to use with the touch-up paint. I'm taking a road trip to Vegas in two weeks so if I obtain anymore chips then I'll really put all that stuff to use.

Consider this

http://autovisuals.com/

They work great and the colors match. I never mastered the globby factory approach. It goes on too thickly. FWIW. Vince

The VentureShield clearbra is 99% optically clear. You'll hardly see the "Line". Paint chips are far more annoying IMO. Langka is a frustrating product to use in my experience. Never again.

But if you prefer to touch up never ending paint chips, hey its your call.

Unless I can clear bra the entire vehicle for very little money, I still don't think it's a wise decision for me.

I can deal with tedious touch up work.

Can I still get clear bra with touch up paint and minor chip on hood? I also look into buying the OEM plastic bra

I got my kit from Classic MINI in Mentor, Ohio. Of course, I live fairly close to them, but they simply mailed the kit to me. And I'll tell you what - dealing with that service department has ALWAYS been a good experience.

Does anyone know if they make a MINI touch up paint kit for the Space blue color on the Checkmate? Living in Germany, its not soo easy to talk to the dealership. They don't exactly speak our language.

As long as you don't have a metallic paint, which leaves out most of us, you can pretty much almost perfectly blend in a touch up paint repair. It's not easy, but it's been done.
